📰 Addressing skill gaps in bite-sized chunks "Nobody who is technically well trained wants to leave the workplace for several months or a year to study – and indeed, the company doesn’t want this either. Micro-credentials allow people to upskill while still working in a flexible, highly accessible way.” - Dr Fiona Edwards Murphy, University College Cork In an interview published over the weekend Nora Trench Bowles (Head of Lifelong Learning and Skills, Irish Universities Association) and Dr Fiona Edwards Murphy (Lecturer in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Cork University Business School and iEd Hub) spoke to the Business Post about the role #microcredentials can play in helping early / mid-career professionals address critical skills gaps. Micro-credentials have the ability to give technical graduates the transversal and soft skills they need to move into leadership positions and accelerate their career progression. From an organisation point of view micro-credentials are developed in close collaboration with enterprise, and are designed to be able to address a specific business need with the learner gaining skills they can implement straight away. ℹ️ https://lnkd.in/eVgNWxvY Higher Education Authority | Irish Universities Association | Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment | Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science
