Beginning his film career in 1958, Louis Marcus became one of the most important and prolific Irish documentary directors throughout the 1960s. Marcus’s 35mm films for Gael Linn were screened in cinemas nationwide and were designed to promote the Irish language. All were directed by Louis Marcus and, from 1965, all were filmed by his longtime friend and collaborator cinematographer Bob Monks. Now these films can be watched for free globally! The Louis Marcus collection is now live on the IFI Archive Player. Thanks to The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Axonista and Culture Ireland for their support of this project. 💻 https://lnkd.in/gFhQUqmt
