Jigsaw - The National Centre for Youth Mental Health
Mental Health Care
We are a free and confidential mental health support service for young people in Ireland. Charity number CHY 17439.
About us
Jigsaw is Ireland’s National Centre for Youth Mental Health. Set up in 2006, Jigsaw is a charitable organisation committed to changing how Ireland thinks about and supports young people’s mental health. Young people are our core focus, but at Jigsaw we do far more than support them; we involve them. Direct participation by dedicated young people is central to all three of our programmes: Service, Research and Engagement. Young people help to enhance our understanding of the challenges they face and, equally importantly, they help us develop creative and appropriate solutions to those issues. In 2016, the year of our tenth anniversary, we changed our name from Headstrong to Jigsaw. This was in recognition of the incredible efforts of our supporters, staff and Youth Advisory Panels in making the name of our service ‘the word’ in the national conversation about youth mental health. We know that Jigsaw works. Working together under the one name, we aim to set the course for a future where every community across Ireland will have access to the support that Jigsaw offers – We are Jigsaw. Our charity (revenue) number is CHY 17439. Our Registered Charity number is 20064846

Jigsaw is delighted to announce our involvement as a key partner in EQUICARES; a pan-European, multi-annual research programme aimed at identifying current issues, testing new approaches and seeking innovative solutions to the global crisis that is access to mental health supports for those most in need. #HorizonEurope #EUProjects #MentalHealth
🧠 Bridging Mental Health Gaps in Europe: The Need for Inclusive Solutions Healthcare disparities across the EU are widening, making universal and equitable access to mental health services increasingly difficult. People in vulnerable situations—financially disadvantaged individuals, migrants, and minorities—face persistent barriers, including: ⚖️Legal and geographic obstacles limiting service availability 🗣️Social stigma and low mental health literacy preventing access 📊 Data gaps hindering effective policy-making and evaluation 💰 Limited cost-effectiveness assessments that overlook equity considerations A holistic, multi-dimensional, and community-centered approach is essential to break down these barriers. This means co-designed services, improved data collection, and stronger evaluation mechanisms to ensure real impact. 🔹 EQUICARES is tackling these challenges by developing innovative solutions that enhance access to mental health care for vulnerable groups. Through research, community engagement, and policy development, we are identifying gaps, testing new approaches, and promoting inclusivity. It’s time to rethink mental health services—because access should not be a privilege. #EQUICARES #HorizonEurope #MentalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #InclusivePolicy #EquitableCare #EUProjects

"Systematic, early and rapid intervention is key." Really important message in today's TheJournal.ie on the need for reform of mental healthcare in Ireland from John Farrelly, Chief Executive of the Mental Health Commission IRL, the regulator for mental health services in Ireland. At Jigsaw - The National Centre for Youth Mental Health, we see the youth mental health crisis in Ireland as a significant and urgent issue and we must act now. Doing more of the same is no longer good enough. And it's not fair. https://lnkd.in/e75qZsK2
