The Collin College Technical Campus in Texas is an educational hub, a future-ready development that provides its students with the spaces they need for advanced technical education. The facility houses a diverse array of spaces from classrooms, science labs, collaboration zones, dining areas, and student services. The campus is built around a central structure that acts as a "spine" connecting to specific buildings dedicated to different trades. A key focus of the project was to maximise natural light. Kingspan's UniQuad® Translucent Wall Systems helped achieve this vision. They allowed natural light to flow into the campus while eliminating glare and hot spots often caused by direct sunlight. This results in a comfortable, energy-efficient environment for learning. At the heart of the facility's design are 66 Solatube daylighting systems that maximise natural light across office spaces, clean rooms and a large warehouse. This strategic integration has helped reduce total energy consumption by 58%, contributing significantly to the building's efficiency. Kingspan Light + Air's cutting edge daylighting solutions, incorporating innovative features like Raybender HD, LightTracjer and INFRAREDuction further enhance performance, ensuring optimised energy use and a comfortable, well-lit indoor environment. This commitment to sustainability helped EcoFibre achieve a LEEDv4 Platinum Cerfification, emphasing Kingspan's commitment to creating high-perfomance developments that support the wellbeing of building occupants. In September, nine employees representing nine different nationalities from across the globe travelled to Kenya for a transformative experience. For the past three years, Kingspan Light, Air + Water has proudly partnered with Just A Drop to support water and sanitation initiatives in various communities throughout Nairobi. During this recent visit, the team, together with project sponsors, visited primary and secondary schools to witness first hand the impact of Kingspan’s sponsorship of rainwater harvesting systems and menstrual hygiene programs. Our annual contributions help provide local communities with access to cleaner, safer water for drinking, cleaning, sanitation, and agriculture—fostering sustainability for years to come.
