We help older people or those with chronic illnesses to live independently at home and improve their wellbeing.

About us

La Casa is an IoT & AI-based well-being monitoring and improvement solution to reduce the care dependence of older people so they can age well at home. Sensors and machine learning identify trends and anomalies with recommendations and preemptive interventions to improve care recipient well-being, slow age-related functional decline and reduce care dependence. An assistive platform that aggregates data from Activities of Daily Living (ADL), clinical, ambient, and emergency devices to enable an overall service for users that increase the independence and well-being of the care recipient and makes the role of caregivers easier and more effective. Developed over 3 years from research at University College Dublin, our technology aims to positively impact each user's aging trajectory by compressing functional decline and supporting re-enablement. It recognizes that by improving user well-being, care dependence & associated costs can also be reduced.

‘’Entrepreneurs support the health of the nation by contributing to improving the social determinants of Health’’ said Gerard H. today at the launch of the 2024 Enterprise Ireland UKRoche Diagnostics UK & Ireland collaborative Incubator. Ireland has a strong ecosystem for emerging start-ups, with the lion’s share of these coming from medical device companies.  So it is an absolute privilege to evolve our collaborative programme this year and open it to a further 5 amazing companies!! Today we heard pitches from Allworth Diagnostics , Bluedrop Medical, Head Diagnostics, La Casa Care and MetHealth.  All have #innovative, #disruptive technologies and a shared mission, ‘to improve patient outcomes’. During the day, I had the pleasure of interviewing Keith O'Neill from Novus Diagnostics to hear about his experience with the programme and pass on a taster of his advice to the other start-ups.  Keith shared that learning to #focus in all aspects of busy start-up life is crucial, as well as taking advantage of the wide network that EI and Roche can help build during the programme.  'It takes a village to raise a start-up!' I’m leaving Dublin with pride in what we have achieved so far from this programme, largely down to Gerard H., Leo Clancy, Marie-Claire Henry, Maria Jennings, Cepta Duffy and Richard Hayward, alongside my colleagues Finbarr Kenny, Len Marshall, Ashton Harper, MD, John Glynn, Yvonne Gerrits and Ravi Chana.  But also a lot of excitement for the future with this collaborative programme and hope to accelerate the clinical deployment of some of these disruptive technologies for the health of the nation. Watch this space! Thank you to Enterprise Ireland UK for hosting us! Roche Diagnostics UK & Ireland Enterprise Ireland UK #innovation #healthcare #healthtech #collaboration

Interesting research just released by the Housing Agency , with input from #TallaghtUniversityHospital and #AgefriendlyIreland - clearly establishes the link between housing conditions and health outcomes for older people . In short, this research shows poor housing has a disproportionate impact on older people’s health - biggest issues are cold and falls risk. Report shows that poor housing has a real cost in terms of increased hospitalisation and patient’s discharge from hospitals to home for recovery or rehab is also affected . The report estimates the health impact of poor housing on the care of older people at €1.25 billion annually just in Ireland.. The full report is available on the HAFH website , https://lnkd.in/ehNBNSct . https://lnkd.in/exDPzqFu. What we knew already at La Casa. I think it’s important to recognise that people want solutions that go beyond “aging in place “ but help them maintain their autonomy and live as well as possible in their own homes if they can . That applies not just to older people but also those with long term chronic conditions #digitalhealth #agedcare #telecare
