📌 The People of Lakeland Dairies Meet Katie Meegan - Marketing and Insight Manager with Lakeland Dairies Food Ingredients From a farm in Lough Egish to marketing Irish dairy across the world, Katie was destined to work for Lakeland Dairies. 🐄 "I grew up on a farm in Lough Egish and studied Animal Science. I always wanted to work in agriculture. Having a degree in agriculture is of huge help to me when I'm dealing with customers and talking about animal and soil health." 💪 After a spell with Alltech and on the Bord Bia - The Irish Food Board International Graduate Programme in #Singapore, Katie returned to Ireland in January 2023 to take up the position of Marketing and Insight Manager with the Food Ingredients division. 👩💻 As well as providing marketing and insights for the team, Katie regularly hosts customers on farms and in production facilities. 🥛 "The one point I'd make is the standard of our facilities. From being in plants across the world, Lakeland Dairies really is cutting edge and state of the art. Customers are continually blown away by our standards." An area of significant work that Katie is involved in at the moment is the launch of a new Bakery Butter. 🧈 "The new range is hugely exciting and comes from a massive amount of work from the R&D, innovation, quality, logistics, production and planning teams. It's real collaboration in action and we are very excited to see it come to life." 🐄 🌊🐄 🌊 Farming for Water 🐄 🌊🐄 🌊 Farmers are embracing the challenge of making further improvements to water quality. #LakelandDairies hosted a huge successful Farming For Water event on the Gilsenan family farm in Moynalty, Co Meath today (3rd December). There was huge interest from farmers to learn about the €60m Farming For Water EIP which is aimed at driving further water quality improvements. The EIP is proving incredibly popular among our suppliers who are using it to making real and tangible investments on their farm in the area of water quality. Many thanks to Dairy Industry Ireland, Teagasc, Local Authority Waters Programme, Tirlán and Kepak Group for the support in making this a great event. We support the senior and junior teams of the Causeway Giants Wheelchair Basketball Club in Co. Antrim. The Giants is a great club playing a huge role in promoting inclusivity while competing at a very high sporting level. 📌 The People of Lakeland Dairies 👩🔬 🧪 Meet the Milk Police - Lab Supervisor at Lakeland Dairies Ballyrashane Agata Balsam talks about her journey from Poland to the North Coast via Galway! 👩🎓 Agata completed her Masters in Galway and began her career with Lakeland Dairies Ballyrashane as a Lab Technician. 👩🔬 "I quickly progressed from a Lab Technician to Laboratory Supervisor in 2022, a role that I am honoured to hold. The people I work with are genuinely caring and take a sincere interest in your life. My primary responsibility is to ensure that all milk coming in and products going out meet the highest quality standards. I often joke that we are like the ‘milk police,’ ensuring everything runs smoothly!" 🎸 Agata now calls Coleraine and the North Coast "a cherished home for me and my partner, Mark". To unwind from the fast-paced lab environment, Agata turns to music and yoga, both of which helps her relax from the "busy chaos" of work. 🏊♀️ "I absolutely love living near the sea, and the lifestyle here on the North Coast suits us perfectly." 🤝 Agata remains motivated by leading "a fantastic team and to contribute to the smooth operation of such a vital part of the dairy industry. 🐄 🏦 👨🌾 👩🌾 Lakeland Dairies and Bank of Ireland launch Enviroflex 🐄 🏦 👨🌾 👩🌾 Lakeland Dairies has partnered with Bank of Ireland to offer the Enviroflex loan package to our milk suppliers. This sustainability-linked loan is now available to over two-thirds of Irish dairy farmers, with plans to extend it to Northern Ireland-based farmers by early 2025. Enviroflex offers discounted flexible finance for farm improvements such as milking parlour upgrades, wastewater and slurry storage, and renewable energy investments. Niall Matthews, Chairperson of Lakeland Dairies, praised the initiative, noting that affordable finance is a challenge for many farmers. 🐄 🌙 🌌 The Northern Lights and Dairy Nights 🐄 🌙 🌌 This great photo was snapped by Kerri Lawless from Co Louth last week as one of our hauliers was out and about busy collecting milk under the Northern Lights. The connection between the milk haulier and the farmer is hugely important. As well as collecting their high-quality milk, the haulier can often be a source of news and information for farmers who might not see many others in their yard.
