👀 October was a month of delivery. We went live with 24/25 Ireland Esports Collegiate Series for our third time, Play Aid joined as our Purpose Partner for mental health and our Nativz Esports Club reset began (see challenges). 🗞️ 𝕀𝕟 𝔽𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕤 On 2 November Riot Games held their #LeagueofLegends 2024 World Championship Grand Final in #London’s O2 arena. With an expected economic impact of £12m locally, the event was broadcast from Riot's Remote Broadcast Centre in #Dublin with a record breaking viewership of 6.9m. Notorious for it’s cross-over with music, #LinkinPark headlined with ‘Heavy is the Crown’ as the official anthem of the event https://lnkd.in/e5Sb26ib. #Ashnikko also performed ‘Paint The Town Blue’ from the 2nd and final season of Riot Games’ related television series #Arcane, released on Netflix (6 Nov), 2 days after Worlds. Undefeated after first round loss, 18th of 400 teams! 🚨ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕘𝕖 Since starting our journey in May 2021, we peaked as the 2023 NLC Summer champs and challenged the best of Europe in the EMEA Masters. We've also rebuilt Irish collegiate esports over the past two academic years and have an amazing talent pool. Now our #LeagueofLegends 1st Team has finished this NLC season it’s time for a change. 👀 After a newsletter break in August we're now back! The 2024/25 Ireland Esports Collegiate Series was in our cross hairs through Aug and Sep. The focus for a number of Nativz Gaming wide projects was to improve the series, none bigger than launching our new competitive gaming platform Nemesis. 🗞️ 𝕀𝕟 𝔽𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕤 The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWC) 2024 brought together +20 tournaments and hundreds of players across various #games. With standout titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (2.38m viewers) and League of Legends (1.1m peak), #EWC demonstrated the global appetite for #esports. The event faced significant challenges, primarily due to concerns over Saudi Arabia’s human rights record. Moreover, games like Rennsport and Fortnite saw viewership far below expectations. Balancing the triumphs of some games with disappointments of others, the EWC 2024 raises important questions about the future of esports mega-events. Quite rightly, EWC organisers are leaning into non-viewership indicators to demonstrate its success. Events out of our control meant we missed the start of the series, despite this, sales validated the opportunity. Unfortunately Brexit and production times limited our ability to maximise this opportunity so, we revisited our supply chain for the 2024/25 Winter Series. July was slower than normal due to the summer holidays. Didn’t stop us making further progress. Nativz Esports Club finished the NLC 1st Div in 6th place, securing our spot for 2025. Ireland Collegiate Alumni Guild went live (https://lnkd.in/eTGki7Fu) as did the new Nativz Business Hub (business.nativzgaming.com). 🗞️ 𝕀𝕟 𝔽𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕤 Game On is how RTE opened their culture piece focused on #esports and the #Olympics, we offered some insights to help shape this one. By all accounts the inaugural #EsportsWorldCup is a phenomenal spectacle. It’s created a great formula to build on. Especially as the International Olympic Committee – IOC gave #SaudiArabia the rights for the next 12 years, concluding a year before the first realistic opportunity to take esports into a Summer Olympics. There are a number of hurdles to navigate ahead before next year. Most importantly, what game titles will be selected? A decision the existing esports community will watch with interest. Other considerations are needed around the state of readiness in local esports ecosystems. Industry is typically led by private sector business, what’s the government view on investment? Do the mandates of public sector entities such as Sport Ireland/Ireland Olympic Committee need adjusting? That’s just a taste of the conversations to come. The opportunity for innovation excites us. 🙌🏼 𝕊𝕦𝕔𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕖𝕤 🚀 Ireland Collegiate Alumni Guild launch featured our new podcast. First edition was with Sam Molloy and there's a strong cast to follow. 🚨ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕘𝕖 Establishing a footprint for growth is a challenge we’ve focused on across the past 6 months to drive traction via (1) monitisation in our ecosystem and (2) informing Project Nemesis. 🎮 Physical - we are on the ground in Dublin, Belfast, Waterford across Ireland plus full-time boots in Amsterdam and London. 🎮 Geographic - our integration in the island of Ireland is comprehensive through Ireland Esports Collegiate Series. We’ve also established Nativz Esports Club within the European League of Legends community. 🎮 Digital Reach (B2C v B2B) - Our TikTok following is led by the US, Poland and the UK. 23.5% of our LinkedIn followers are from Dublin and 15.9% from London.
