We are delighted to have been selected for this excellent initiative. The support from Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail and CIÉ - Córas Iompair Éireann will be hugely significant to increase the production of our native species. Trees produced from this project will sequester carbon, create habitats for birds and wildlife while enhancing biodiversity.

We were honoured to attend the one hundred million trees project event at Àras an Uachtaráin last week, which saw 2,000 of our trees planted on the grounds. This fantastic community driven initiative is accelerating at real pace across the country and is brilliantly coordinated by the project team. On the right in this photo are our colleagues Kate and Teige pictured with the President and his wife Sabina. Well done to all involved on this special occasion. 🌳🌲🌳🌲

Sowing our acorns which will provide Oak saplings for the final year of the current forestry program 2026/2027 and the first year of the next forestry program. As the sun sets on the outgoing government let’s hope that the new government will act urgently and kickstart the private afforestation sector!

… and we are off ! 🌲 The planting season has started on the nursery this morning with the lifting and grading of our Sitka Spruce. Sizes available are suitable for Afforestation, RUS, Reforestation and filling in. These young plants will eventually provide timber to build homes, while sequestering carbon from the atmosphere in the meantime. 🌲 🌲 🌲 🌲

Improved Common Birch sown during the fine weather. This seed was collected from our own indoor seed orchard in August 2022. Improved Birch offers faster growth and better quality plants and trees to the end user. We will continue to increase production of Improved Birch on the Nursery as demand increases within the new Forestry Programme 2023-2027.

Native Cherry, Crab Apple and Blackthorn grown in year one in tunnels. Cell grown production helps keep pace with rising demand for these species.

Good weather and ground conditions in Wexford this week. Ideal for getting seeds from native species sown. A run of the irrigation system just after sowing to finish it off nicely.

Beech seed sown today just before the rain. After three years the majority of these plants will go to the hedging market. However, there are also good incentives to establish Beech plantations within the new forestry programme.
