About us
Nurture Africa is an Irish-founded, international non-governmental organisation established in 2003. We operatre in Uganda and Our mission is to Empower African Families to Self Reliance. We do so through our holistic "family-centred" approach; providing access to healthcare (specifically HIV treatment and care, primary healthcare and maternal healthcare), education (both formal and vocational), income generation and sustainable household vegetable plots. We facilitate specialised volunteer opportunities on our established volunteer programme for healthcare, teaching and Professional Skill volunteer's. Our continuous link with these communities enables Nurture Africa supporters and volunteers to make a lasting difference. Since that day, our services have supported hundreds of thousands of people to access services such as HIV testing, care and treatment, maternity services, cancer screening, primary healthcare and paediatric physio and occupational therapy. For the first time since their development education placement in Uganda we met with students and staff from Ballymakenny College, Drogheda to discuss the impact their placement and the return to Ireland had on them personally. Their new perspective reminds us why we love these programmes so much.
