OKC was delighted to be a session partner for yesterday’s Philanthropy Ireland Symposium 2024! It was a great morning spent connecting with funders, thought-leaders, and innovators within the philanthropy space, all focused on creating meaningful social impact through this year’s pillars of Innovate, Collaborate, Activate.
Symposium speakers shared powerful insights on the evolving role of philanthropy in Ireland, with a focus on how we can use technology, partnerships, and creative thinking to drive impact and build a sense of belonging, trust, and civic engagement in our communities.
A key theme that emerged was the importance of embedding a culture of philanthropy and ‘giving back’ from an early age, which requires a significant shift in how we educate and engage young people about philanthropy. By normalising committed giving and social responsibility early on, we can inspire future generations to embrace philanthropy as an inherent part of Irish society. Donors being public and open about their giving can further amplify this message, encouraging others to join and create a broader culture of generosity and social impact.
💡 Key takeaway: Philanthropy must invest more in education, imagination, and systemic change. To tackle social challenges, we need collaborative, innovative and forward-looking strategies that include diverse voices from across the ecosystem.
Well done to the Philanthropy Ireland team on a wonderful event, and thank you to all of the panellists and our fellow participants for such an engaging and inspiring day!
