The Port of Cork had the pleasure of hosting representatives from South Coast Logistics Ltd, Scan Global Logistics and Nordzucher AS for a tour of the Cork Container Terminal in Ringaskiddy, where they were provided with an overview of the Port of Cork's projects and future plans. It was a privilege to welcome Troels Rasmussen, whose exceptional career in logistics is matched by his remarkable achievements as a Danish goalkeeper in major international tournaments. With Troels, you’re certainly in a safe pair of hands ⚽🚢

We hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving from the Port of Cork! 🇮🇪🤝🇺🇸 As our American counterparts celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday, we are grateful for the ever-growing trade ties between Ireland and the United States. Our partnership with Independent Container Line (ICL) brings Ireland and the U.S. closer through the only direct shipping route between Ireland and America—linking Cork to ports on the East Coast of the USA to serve and benefits businesses and communities on both sides of the Atlantic. We also recently signed a MoU with the Ports of Indiana, paving the opportunity to explore an express container service between Ireland and Indiana. Together, we’ll work on initiatives in economic growth, environmental sustainability, and advanced technology, which will help to build a brighter, more connected future for both regions. Our Commercial team, Conor Mowlds and David Browne, recently embarked on a cruise sales trip across the U.S., visiting Seattle, LA, and Miami. This trip was a fantastic opportunity to meet with our valued cruise customers, reflecting on the incredible season we’ve just had and planning for an even brighter future by exploring ways to grow business for Cork, Ireland, and the British Isles. The feedback from cruise lines has been incredibly positive, with passengers consistently highlighting Cork as a must-visit destination. These productive meetings underscored the strategic importance of Cork and Ireland in the global cruise market, strengthening our position for the future. A big thank you to all the cruise lines for facilitating these discussions. We look forward to continuing our work together to deliver exceptional experiences and drive future growth. Last night, the Starvip, a massive 147-metre bulker, performed an impressive swing right in the city centre. The vessel’s bow was secured along the south quay wall with two lines fastened to bollards. With the help of tugs Gerry O'Sullivan and Alex, the stern was gently pushed upriver, allowing the Starvip to complete its turn. With just 10 meters of clearance on the north side, it was a display of incredible skill and coordination. This intricate maneuver takes about 30-45 minutes depending on the vessel and this time was expertly piloted by Charlie Nash and Nevan Holland. 👏 📸 Damien Allen

In 2023, Irish ports played a critical role in supporting Ireland's economy, handling 47.6 million tonnes of goods vital for trade and supply chains. Of this total, 15.4 million tonnes were exported, while 32.1 million tonnes of goods arrived to meet domestic needs. As an island nation, Ireland relies on its ports for importing essential goods, from raw materials to consumer products, and for exporting Irish-made goods to global markets. The arrival of in excess of 10,000 vessels. last year highlights the continuous, essential flow of goods and services facilitated by our port system as part of the global supply chain. 📸 Tadhg O’Keeffe
