From Bydgoszcz to Bolton, it was a busy day for Primark teams as we opened the doors to two new stores. In Poland, we celebrated the opening of our 7th store, in Zielone Arkady Shopping Centre, Bydgoszcz, and our first location in the north of the country. Representing a €9 million investment, we’re delighted to bring affordable fashion to more customers in the region and welcome over 150 new colleagues.   Meanwhile, in the UK, our newly relocated Bolton store opened its doors at Market Place to over 500 eager shoppers. This location brings our exciting new store concept to the British high street for the first time, featuring a modern look and feel, more sustainable design fittings and even a unique new scent! Bolton has been part of our story since 1976, and we’re proud to continue serving this vibrant community after 48 years, and counting. #Primark #NewStore

Today, we're proud to publish our third annual Sustainability and Ethics Progress Report. Since launching our Primark Cares strategy: https://lnkd.in/epPzT5dH three years ago, we’ve been focused on turning our commitments into action. Here are some highlights from the past 12 months: ♻️Two-thirds (66%) of clothes sold in Primark contained recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, up 20% from last year. 👕 Our Durability Framework sets the standard for how we are making clothes that last longer. ⬇️We’ve reduced our carbon emissions, with a 1.9% reduction across our value chain since our baseline year of 2019 and an 11.6% decrease since last year.  🧑🌾 We’re expanding our decade-long Primark Cotton Project, helping thousands of cotton farmers across India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan adopt regenerative agricultural practices.    You can read the full Primark Sustainability and Ethics Progress Report 23/24 here: https://lnkd.in/e8d_4hsb #Sustainability #Primark

We’re big believers in the high street and vibrant and buzzing towns and cities with a range of shops, restaurants and services are good for everyone.   Did you know that for every £10 spent in a Primark store in the UK, a further £3.60 is spent elsewhere on the high street. That adds up to an incredible £1.5 billion every year! We’re proud to play our part in supporting high streets up and down the country, find out more below.

At last night’s Drapers Awards, we proudly took home two awards that mean so much to us! 🏆 We won the Diversity & Inclusion Award, for our achievements so far in our efforts to bring more adaptive fashion to the high street as part of our work to make Primark a more accessible place to work and shop. The judges commended our adaptive underwear line, designed to be both stylish and affordable. ✨ And a huge congratulations to Wendy Duggan, our incredible Director of Marketing, who was named Retail Star of the Year! During Breast Cancer Awareness month, teams across our 17 markets worked together to raise much-needed funds through in-store till fund-raisers and local activities. We’re thrilled to confirm we’ve smashed our ambitious fund-raising target of £1 million, raising a total of £1,148,810 to support our local charity partners. Primark is also donating £1 million, bringing our total donation amount to over £2.1 million this year. Ever wondered what’s involved in christening a shipping vessel? Take a look back at when we had the privilege of joining our shipping partner A.P. Moller - Maersk as they named their latest dual-fuel methanol container vessel “Alexandra Maersk” in Felixstowe, UK, last month. As part of our sustainability strategy we are working to half our carbon emissions by 2030 which includes changing how we ship our products, as shipping makes up 2% of all Primark’s carbon emissions. Through our partnership with Maersk we've started to introduce green-fuel alternatives, such as biofuel, when shipping our products.    Thanks for the memories Alexandra Maersk!

Czech this out! Lots of excitement today as we opened our second store in the city of Prague. Primark Metropole Zličín joins our flagship Wenceslas Square store, bringing affordable fashion to even more customers in the region. We’re delighted to welcome over 150 new colleagues to our business today, as we continue to grow our presence across Central and Eastern Europe.
