Amazing achievement for Europe and Ireland to land a probe on a comet. Space Technology Ireland, based in Maynooth designed and build the Data Processing Unit that managed all the data from the Philae probe. https://lnkd.in/exGGXvuT #enterpriseireland #irishspaceassociation
Can you believe it has been 10 years since we landed on a comet? 😲 On 12 November 2014, after a ten-year journey through the Solar System and over 500 million kilometres from home, our Rosetta mission’s lander Philae made history by touching down on a comet for the first time. 🎉 We're celebrating this extraordinary feat by taking a look back over the mission's highlights 👉https://lnkd.in/eB4ErM5Z Credits: ESA

News from #Ariane6: its upper stage has successfully passed a series of acoustic tests, paving the way for its launch in the Ariane 64 configuration. 🚀 With four boosters, this version of the Ariane rocket will generate around 60% more acoustic energy than the two-booster Ariane 62, which means the upper stage needed to prove it could withstand the intense noise and vibrations of lift-off. ✅ The success of these tests qualifies the upper stage for the Ariane 64 configuration which will begin flying in 2025, and confirms the robustness and resistance of its equipment to the acoustic waves generated by the lift-off with four boosters of 142 tons each. The tests were carried out by our #RocketMakers teams at the European Space Agency’s ESTEC facility in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, using the hot-fire test model (HFM). This model had already carried out a hot-fire test campaign on the German Aerospace Center (DLR) test site in Lampoldshausen, Germany, between 2022 and 2024. #Milestone #SpaceIndustry #WorkInSpace European Space Agency - ESA
