Last week we had a fantastic time at the Finance & Business Awards where we were shortlisted for the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award ✨ It was a big day for us to join many leading organisations demonstrating great #leadership in innovation and the #Equality, #Diversity, #Inclusion and #Belonging (EDIB) space. We were proud to be there and represent a part of the nonprofit sector. Helen Nzekea, Financial Controller and the EDIB lead at Rethink Ireland said this about the nomination: "We are very proud to have been shortlisted for this award. It is a wonderful recognition of the consistent efforts of our EDIB steering committee and an encouragement that we are on the right path. We would like to encourage each of you to engage in this vital work of EDIB—whether through education, allyship, or simply reaching out to someone whose experiences differ from your own—as our work is far from done" Congratulations to the winner of the award Workday and the other nominees 🎉 Accenture UK & Ireland, Arthur Cox LLP, auticon, eBay Ireland, European Movement Ireland, FINEOS, Grant Thornton Ireland Hostelworld Group, Mantra Strategy, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP Musgrave, Northern Trust, PTSB, Walkers (Ireland) #SocialImpact #SocialInnovation #BandFAwards KPMG Ireland Business & Finance Media Group

We held an amazing Community of Practice event at the Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Organisations in Dublin earlier this month with the four awardees on our Equity in Education Fund. 📚 The Big Idea - Ireland, Teen-Turn, Donegal Travellers Project and Offaly Traveller Movement with Ballycommon TTC all came together to share learnings, funding advice and discuss their individual projects. 💫 There was also a fantastic session on ethical storytelling by communications consultant Sam Whelan-Curtin, who helped awardee organisations on the fund to understand the power of telling their story in the right way to different audiences. Thanks so much to everyone who attended for a fantastic day of learnings and insight! 🥳 Mario Vottero Clare Allen Marie Prestgard #CommunityOfPractice #EquityInEducation #SharedLearnings #EducationForAll

Christmas is around the corner, and many people are thinking about gifts for their loved ones. Did you know that 9 of 10 toys are made of #plastic?🪁 ⚠️"80% of all toys globally end up in landfills, incinerators or the ocean and are not recycled, while an estimated 5.5 million plastic toys are discarded in #Ireland each year. " - RTÉ News As a part of Rethink Ireland's vision of a more just, equal and #sustainable Ireland we are supporting five innovative non-profit projects in #Cork through our SEFIT Fund, focused on addressing the challenges of green and digital transitions 🌱 One of the awardees is The Toy Library. We spoke with their founder Giorgia Anile, to get her best tips for a more sustainable holiday season 🎄 Swipe to learn more 👉 Giorgia Anile, founder of The Toy Library: "The Toy Library’s #Circular #Christmas campaign is about changing the way we engage with toys over the Christmas period, which can be a time of overconsumption - as parents and families are exposed to pressure from the media to fabricate the perfect Christmas. Every parent can relate to this: kids get obsessed with a particular toy, only to completely lose interest after a few days. We can do better than that, and The Toy Library is here to help solve this problem, supported by Rethink Ireland on a shared mission to create more sustainable futures." We recently attended an incredible event at Bank of America's Dublin headquarters celebrating the end of the Future Prospects programme. 🎓 Future Prospects saw 10 women facing intersectional disadvantage take part in a six-week internship programme at Bank of America. 🤝 The programme wrapped up with presentations from all participants, who bravely pitched their fundraising and volunteer drive ideas to the organisation. Congratulations to everyone who took part! 👏 The winning team pitched a multicultural fashion show, with inspirational insights and plenty of learnings, which will be taken back to the business. Two participants have since been offered positions in Bank of America, with plans to expand the Future Prospects programme even further in the coming months and years.👍 Participants on the programme were recruited through past and present awardee organisations on our Mná na hÉireann funds, in partnership with Bank of America and the Department of Rural and Community Development. These fantastic not-for-profits include An Cosán , EQUAL Ireland, Jobcare and the Irish Refugee Council. #Equality #DiversityAndInclusion #EqualOpportunities #SocialInnovation

We visited The Wayfinding Centre – one of the current awardees on our Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 2024 – for a special tour as part of Open House Dublin last month. Based in the former Smurfit Kappa Ireland Printworks, The Wayfinding Centre is a transport and mobility training centre which empowers people with disabilities to use transport confidently and independently. 🚆🚌 It's also a training space for transport operators, architects, designers, engineers, and students responsible for future transport systems and designing the built environment. Some 1.1 million people in Ireland have a disability, but only 6% use public transport, something the centre hopes to see dramatically increase. During our visit, we got to board a real-life section of an Airbus 319, donated by Air France, which is "essential" for building up confidence and familiarity for people with disabilities, according to our tour guide. ✈️ The Wayfinding Centre also features a Luas carriage, a DART section, a double-decker bus, an Expressway coach and a taxi, all surrounded by footpaths, traffic light crossings and soundscapes that mimic real-life environments. Brian Murphy, an Access Ambassador, spoke on the tour about the many difficulties he's encountered when using public transport as a wheelchair user. "You’re thinking about what other people are thinking, that you're delaying them," he said as he compared airplane, DART, bus and coach transport with the Luas, which he described as the most accessible form of public transport currently available to him in the capital. 👨🦽 We proudly support The Wayfinding Centre as an awardee on the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 2024, created in partnership with the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and Anne Rabbitte TD Minister for Disability. #DisabilityDay #IDPD #Accessibility #DisabilityAwareness #SocialInclusion #SocialInnovation Vision Ireland, the new name for NCBI
