Keeping families close to their sick child at CHI at Crumlin

About us

Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland provides accommodation, care and support for families when their children are seriously and long-term ill at CHI, Crumlin. Keeping parents and siblings comfortable and close to their sick child, means the family can stay together, close to the hospital care and medical community that their child needs. Here at RMHC we believe that for every sick child there is a ‘sick’ family. While the medical experts look after the sick child, it is our role to wrap ourselves around that family and create a warm, loving, homely and peaceful environment where they can be a family and have some downtime while their child is sick in hospital over a very long period of time. • When little Cara Rooney came up from Monaghan for a hospital appointment, she and her family had a place to call home for the day 🏠💛 Our Day Pass service means RMHC families can use the House as a base for the day – somewhere to pop in for a cuppa, grab lunch, and take a breather before heading back on the road. And most likely, you'll get a cuddle from one of the team members here like Ellen 🤗💕 It’s the little things that make a big difference 💛

  • 👋 HOMETIME 👋 After a long 249 nights baby Tommy Scarry has finally made the journey HOME to Galway - for the very first time ever!! 😍🤩 Tommy, his Mam, Jean and Dad, Mark, became part of our family in the House, and saying goodbye was bittersweet. We’ve shared so many moments with them - chats, laughs, meals, celebrations, milestones and all of the ups and downs that come with time in hospital 🤗 We’ll miss them more than words can say, but our hearts are full knowing that Tommy is now home, with his big sister Freya and all the family who have been waiting so long to welcome him 💕 Congratulations Mark, Jean and Tommy, as much as we'll miss you, we think we've had you long enough 😘 There's no place like home 🏠✨

  • 🌹✨ Love was in the air at The Ronald McDonald House last night! ✨🌹 If you can’t go to the restaurant… the restaurant comes to you! 🍽️❤️ Our dining room was transformed into a cosy, candlelit escape, where parents got a little slice of romance right here at the House. Delicious food, twinkling lights, and a moment to breathe - because love isn’t just in grand gestures, it’s in the quiet moments too 💛 Cupid on the night was played by little Arthur, from Leitrim, who hand delivered roses to our Mums and stole hearts while doing so 🥰 Swipe through to see all the magic of last night! 📸✨

  • ❤️✨ A Valentine’s Night with a lotta Heart ✨❤️ For years now, we’ve turned our kitchen into our own little restaurant on Valentine’s Night - because even in the hardest times, parents deserve a moment to just be together 💛 This evening, families staying with us were treated to a beautiful three-course meal, complete with wine, laughter, and a little break from hospital life. None of it would be possible without: 👨🍳 The incredible chefs from Q Cafe, who poured their hearts into every dish 🌸 The Lily Daly Foundation, who generously sponsored the entire evening - turning their love for Lily into a legacy of kindness for other families 🍽️ Team RMHC, who gave up their own Valentine’s to become waiters and waitresses for the night A big Happy Valentine's Day to all our RMHC Family across the country ☘💗

  • 🚛 Driving Support for Families 🚛 We’re thrilled to announce that DFI Beds has chosen Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland as their 2025 Charity Partner! 🛌🎉 As part of their amazing initiative, our logo will be proudly displayed on DFI Beds’ fleet of delivery vans, helping to spread awareness and support for families with seriously ill children across Ireland 🚚 💚🤍🧡 A huge thank you to DFI Beds and Managing Director Brian McCann, whose own family experienced the comfort of a Ronald McDonald House during a difficult time. Your generosity will help us keep families together when they need it most! 🙏 The Hall family, pictured here, from Co. Monaghan knows firsthand how much the House means. Mum, Elaine shared: "Ronald McDonald House became our lifeline when Jessica was critically ill. It was so much more than a place to stay - it was a true home away from home." 🏠💛 And just look at Jessica now - 10 years on, all grown up and with a smile that could light up the world 🥰📷

  • 🏈✨ SUPER BOWL CHAMPS! ✨🏈 The Philadelphia Eagles just soared to victory…but did you know they also helped kickstart something else? 🏠💛 Way back in 1974, Eagles player Fred Hill was facing the toughest battle off the field - his young daughter, Kim, was fighting leukemia 💔 Seeing families struggle on the cancer ward of the hospital, the Eagles teamed up with Kim's amazing Doctor, Audrey Evans and McDonald’s to create something life-changing… the first-ever Ronald McDonald House! 🏠💛 What started as one house in Philly has now grown into a worldwide support system - including right here in Ireland! 💚🤍🧡 All thanks to a football team, a visionary doctor, and a whole lot of grit! So whether you cheered for the Eagles or not, we think this is a touchdown worth celebrating! 🎉🏆 📸 Here's little Kim in her Dad's football kit & The Eagles team opening the first Ronald McDonald House in 1974

  • 💛🏠 A Slimming World Group with a Big Heart! 🏠💛 A huge shoutout to Catherine Bond and her amazing Slimming World members across Donegal, who raised an incredible €822.36 for The Ronald McDonald House! 🙌🎉 For Catherine, this was personal—back in 2014, she saw firsthand how the House helps families stay close while her own son Paddy was in CHI Crumlin. So, when the chance came to give back, she and fellow consultants Annemarie and Marie went all in! Donation buckets, Santa hats, and the generosity of their members made it all happen. 🎅💶 This incredible donation will help keep families together when it matters most. Catherine, Annemarie, Marie, Victor and every Slimming World member who chipped in—you’re absolute stars! ⭐💛
