In 2019-2020, Leila and her family spent 61 nights with us at Ronald McDonald House while she fought bravely against a rare MECOM gene disorder causing bone marrow failure.
After countless blood and platelet transfusions and a life-changing bone marrow transplant, Leila is now a healthy, thriving 5-year-old – a testament to the incredible generosity of donors who gave her the gift of life ❤❤❤
To honour these life-saving donors and give back, Leila's Dad took on an extraordinary challenge: swimming 10km across the sea from Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, to Kilcummin, Co. Mayo 🌊💪
His mission? Raising awareness for blood and marrow donations while also fundraising for our House 🏠💛
Their words say it all:
"Ronald McDonald House was our safe space during the hardest time of our lives – a home away from home with warm meals, smiles, and support when we needed it most. Now, we want to ensure other families can experience the same care and kindness."
Thanks to their incredible efforts, they’ve raised vital funds to help us continue supporting families in need. A huge thank you to Leila's family and to everyone who donated! 💛
