Keeping families close to their sick child at CHI at Crumlin

About us

Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland provides accommodation, care and support for families when their children are seriously and long-term ill at CHI, Crumlin. Keeping parents and siblings comfortable and close to their sick child, means the family can stay together, close to the hospital care and medical community that their child needs. Here at RMHC we believe that for every sick child there is a ‘sick’ family. While the medical experts look after the sick child, it is our role to wrap ourselves around that family and create a warm, loving, homely and peaceful environment where they can be a family and have some downtime while their child is sick in hospital over a very long period of time. • 🎄✨ Together for Christmas ✨🎄 At our House we pour our hearts into making the holiday season a little brighter for the families who find themselves with us during Christmas. We understand the importance this time of year holds for our families. For some families, our House has been where they've spent their first Christmas apart, while for others, it has been a time they hold dear, making every Christmas moment together all the more precious. Today, we're unveiling our "Together For Christmas" campaign, symbolised by our House inside a snow globe, representing the support and protection that we can offer to families over Christmas 🏠✨ We are committed to supporting families through the rest of 2024. Your generosity helps us ensure that, no matter the circumstance, families can spend the season surrounded by comfort and love 💛 Keep an eye out here over the coming weeks for ways you can help us bring the gift of togetherness this Christmas 🎄💖

  • In 2019-2020, Leila and her family spent 61 nights with us at Ronald McDonald House while she fought bravely against a rare MECOM gene disorder causing bone marrow failure. After countless blood and platelet transfusions and a life-changing bone marrow transplant, Leila is now a healthy, thriving 5-year-old – a testament to the incredible generosity of donors who gave her the gift of life ❤❤❤ To honour these life-saving donors and give back, Leila's Dad took on an extraordinary challenge: swimming 10km across the sea from Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, to Kilcummin, Co. Mayo 🌊💪 His mission? Raising awareness for blood and marrow donations while also fundraising for our House 🏠💛 Their words say it all: "Ronald McDonald House was our safe space during the hardest time of our lives – a home away from home with warm meals, smiles, and support when we needed it most. Now, we want to ensure other families can experience the same care and kindness." Thanks to their incredible efforts, they’ve raised vital funds to help us continue supporting families in need. A huge thank you to Leila's family and to everyone who donated! 💛 📸 Swipe to see moments from the charity swim and the cheque presentation that will help us keep families close when they need it most 🏡💛
