Fintech company Ctrl Alt is planning to create 21 jobs at a new office in Northern Ireland as a result of a £1.5m investment by the company. The new Belfast office will expand the reach of Ctrl Alt, which also has offices in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and, as of September, the United Arab Emirates. The new jobs will include engineering, product and operations roles. They will be offered as hybrid positions. Irish quantum computing company Equal1 has announced what it refers to as a “major breakthrough for the quantum computing industry” by successfully testing the “world’s most complex and coldest” quantum controller chip. Today, the UCD spin-out announced the “world’s first” multi-tile quantum controller chip demonstrated in its UnityQ Quantum-System-on-Chip platform. The chip operates in cryogenic temperatures at 300 millikelvin – or nearly minus 273 degrees Celsius – and is powered by Cortex core microprocessors produced by the British semiconductor company Arm. UK-based private equity firm Invincible Software Holdings (ISH), has today announced the acquisition of Irish people management company HRLocker for an undisclosed amount. HRLocker, which is based in Lahinch, Co Clare, was founded in 2013 and works to provide SMEs with a range of HR services, across the UK and Ireland.
