  • The Power of Upskilling: Evaluating the role of training in supporting Irish Enterprises to be climate resilient Part 1 of 4 - Assessing Irish Enterprise Engagement in Climate Action. This blog is the first in a four-part series analysing how Irish Enterprise is responding to the challenge of planning for a climate-resilient future. The entire series is based on a study of 106 sustainability action plans created mainly by large and medium-sized organisations who participated in Skillnet Climate Ready Academy’s Sustainability Leaders Programme (SLP) between 2022-2023. SLP uses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework to help businesses develop a sustainability action plan. Thanks to Aisling O'Connor and the research team Skillnet Climate Ready Academy and our colleagues Skillnet Ireland and 20FIFTY PARTNERS for all their support on the research quoted. Also thanks to our participant companies from all over Ireland across multiple industries. You can read it here: https://lnkd.in/eNbVhDgW

  • COP 29 needs to find $1 Trillion a year for poorer countries or pay more later, the most recent news from COP 29 declares today November 15th.  The need to pay now to help poorer countries cope with climate change or pay more later was a bitter pill to be swallowed by delegates in Baku. Finance and money is at the core of the COP 29 talks which hopes to create a speedy path to climate stability. A group of 10 richer countries have agreed to ramp up their climate finance by 60% to $120 billion a year by 2030 but the latest report says more is needed and sooner. A push to create some funds for climate change by taxing polluting sectors such as aviation, fossil fuels and shipping received a boost as more countries said they would consider it.
