Our Step Up programme pairs young people with one-to-one mentors who offer support and encouragement for personal growth. Recently, a simple idea—trying Popeyes—turned into something much more. With the nearest location in Belfast, the group worked together to plan a full trip. The young people gained hands-on experience in scheduling, budgeting, and decision-making, while also learning about history and strengthening their connections with mentors. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Tony Brown from Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) this week for a session of discussion and mutual learning alongside Bradog Youth Service, SWAN Youth Service, and The Diamond Project. The conversations reinforced the importance of collaboration to close gaps, influence decision-making, and drive systemic change. Tony’s story deeply inspired us—showing how small, consistent steps in the community can create big impact and open new pathways for young people. #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityLeadership #CollaborateForChange #YouthWorkMatters #HeartOfLA #SolasProject
