SEUPB’s Student Placement Programme is open to those who will have completed their second year of undergraduate level study by the end of 2024/25 academic year, SEUPB recognises that a student placement year forms an integral part of a university degree. As such, a student’s professional placement experience should complement their academic study and contribute to their overall development. It’s not just about gaining work experience; it’s about building the skills, confidence, and perspective to succeed in your future career. A student placement isn’t just a step in an academic journey – it’s a foundation for your future success. Shane - Information Governance Student Placement "The practical experience I have gained at the SEUPB has been the most valuable aspect of my time spent here so far. I have been given the opportunity to get hands-on training which will allow me to take new skills into my final year and beyond. Placement at the SEUPB has been not only a brilliant learning curve around GDPR compliance but also an extremely enjoyable time made possible by the very welcoming and helpful staff. The amount of tacit knowledge acquired at my time here that I wouldn’t have learned otherwise has made this placement useful for my future career. Working at the SEUPB has been extremely worthwhile as I’ve gained so much experience that cannot be taught in the classroom." Interested? Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eH67rVBX

Manages EU funding to build Peace and Prosperity across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland.
About us
Since 1999 the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) has been responsible for managing billions of euros of EU funding into Northern Ireland, the Border counties of Ireland and Western Scotland. The funding between 2014-2020 was provided under two distinct European Regional Development funded programmes called PEACE and INTERREG. The support provided under the PEACE Programme was designed to reinforce progress towards a more peaceful and stable society and promote reconciliation across all communities. The support provided under the INTERREG Programme was designed to promote cross-border co-operation for a more prosperous and sustainable region. The SEUPB is currently preparing for the launch of the new PEACEPLUS Programme. DISCLAIMER: The SEUPB is working to ensure that social networks respect the highest standards of data protection. We are encouraging eligible organisations to apply to the Smart Towns and Villages Investment Area, under the PEACEPLUS programme, with €17.1million of funding available. The funding call closes on Wednesday 7 May. A Smart Town or Village is defined as a town, village or rural community where technology is used to enable, accelerate or support strategic goals such as economic growth, wellbeing, sustainability, environmental solutions, social inclusion and cross-border relationships. This financial support is aimed at providing greater access to and awareness of telecommunications in rural areas across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. Examples of initiatives that could be funded are mobile digital hubs, mentoring programmes, digital clusters, social enterprise/innovation-led projects and static digital hubs through the renovation of existing assets. Eligible project locations are limited to settlement areas with less than 18,000 inhabitants. Full details here: https://lnkd.in/eyYg4vzu

It was a pleasure to attend the launch of Causeway Coast and Glens Co-Designed Local Authority Action Plan on Thursday. The Borough’s Co-designed Local Community PEACEPLUS LOCAL Action Plan, received £6.1m in funding secured to deliver peacebuilding projects. The action plan represents the culmination of an extensive ‘co-design’ process which saw Council Officials and Elected Members work with, listen to and empower local communities. The Causeway Coast and Glens Local Action Plan is a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) with support from The Executive Office and the Department of Rural and Community Development. The funding will enable the delivery of 23 projects across Causeway Coast and Glens on the PEACEPLUS themes of Community Regeneration and Transformation, Thriving and Peaceful Communities, and Celebrating Cultural Diversity. The Capital Projects include: Mountsandel in Coleraine: Through sensitive works the earliest known site for civilisation on the island of Ireland, pathways and signage will be regenerated and transformed. Benbradagh, the Gateway to The Sperrins: The project will work alongside the local community to improve accessibility. The Girona Project Portballintrae: Will enable local beneficiaries to understand, examine and reflect on our rich local heritage. The Layd & Ronán’s Path, between Cushendall and Cushendun: Will be regenerated and improved, involving participants in a rich cultural and heritage project to promote positive wellbeing and social connections. The Renewal of the Boardwalk at Altnahinch Dam, rural North Antrim: Will develop a range of opportunities and activities so that legacy will be derived from the Dam Walk. Health and wellbeing programmes, educational, environmental and angling programmes will allow close by communities to come together and enjoy the natural outdoors.

Daniel, IT Student Placement 2So far, my placement year at SEUPB has been nothing more than exceptional. I have gotten to work in all the key areas I was hoping to such as system maintenance, solving tickets and working with active directory. My favourite part is working hands-on and troubleshooting problems to find out a solution. The staff here at SEUPB are all very nice and are always patient when you are helping them out. My mentors, Michael and Seamus, are so helpful and are there to answer any questions I may have. The hybrid working scheme allows me to get the best of both worlds and get a feel of what it is like to work in the office and in a home environment. I've already learned so much at my time here and I'm now so much more confident about my IT knowledge." Interested? Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eH67rVBX

Eliza - Finance – Accounting Function Student Placement "During my time as a finance placement student in the Accounting Function department so far, I have learned so much about the ins-and-outs of the financial side of the work which goes into the projects that SEUPB supports. I have gained valuable skills in numerous financial systems as well as developed my skills in problem solving, organisation, teamwork and more. This experience has been very insightful, and it has been amazing to see how the things I have learned from my degree apply in a real-life professional work setting. The team has been very welcoming and supportive and is always happy to help if I have any queries. The student peer network has also been extremely beneficial – it has given the placement students working at SEUPB a way to connect with each other, catch-up, and plan fundraising and volunteering activities and has acted as a great support network. I am vastly grateful for this opportunity and excited to see where the remainder of my placement takes me." Interested? Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eH67rVBX
