This video has a pretty great hook. Don't you think? • A famous Corgi with 8 million followers. • Cash everywhere. • A Miami hotel room. • In the middle of Art Basel. What’s going on here? It’s not what you think… Let me explain. This all started as part of a Sprout Social brand activation. I was invited out to join Sprout's team for a panel at Art Basel. The panel, Moments to Metrics: Unlocking the ROI of Social Data, kicked off our week. Then Sprout did a multi-day takeover of Taste Cafe, a coffee shop just outside the main art gallery in Miami. And, to make sure they made the whole thing as engaging as possible Sprout had Maxine the Corgi, with her 8 million followers, join the action To top things off Sprout Social used their tech to pull together a public facing dashboard of the latest insights and cultural moments from Art Basel. Which gets back to the dog. Money. Cash. One influencer we'd plan to bring down couldn't make it last minute. Luckily, we were able to save some funds by cancelling flights and hotel and decided to spend the budget. But, we didn't go crazy. Maxine’s owner, manager, and i jumped in an uber drove an hour out of town and donated the extra cash to paws4u, a local, non-profit animal shelter Why the cash? It just looks cooler. Anyway, once back in Miami it became clear Maxine was the perfect brand ambassador. Everywhere we went people turned and took photos and posted to Maxine sitings to their social media. It certainly put Sprout at the center of the conversation The best brand activations bridge the gap between offline and online. Thanks Sprout Social, Inc. for sending us and showing us an incredible time. #sproutsocialpartner If you want to see what’s driving conversations in real-time, check out Sprout Social’s live dashboard 👇👇👇 https://lnkd.in/gTr-KpS8

I tried to find the most popular things to do at Miami Art Basel. But I got rejected +20 times... Art Basel is one of the largest and most coveted art fairs in the world. And Sprout Social, Inc. sent me to Miami to help capture the moment. But there is SO much going on. Which makes it really challenging to figure out what to attend. So I took the streets to find out what people were talking about most. After many unsuccessful attempts, I went to Sprout Social's live Trend Analysis. It seemed like everybody was talking about Art Basel online. So Sprout Social used their social listening capabilities to read over 50,000 online conversations about Art Basel. I was easily able to find the most popular art shows and events. You can check it out for yourself here https://lnkd.in/eK_Ytjn9 Oh, and the lesson learned from failed street interviews? Go out and strive for rejections rather than successes. It helps relieve the pressure off yourself and helps you get excited for each rejection you face. Follow along for more content coming from Miami Art Basel! #SproutSocialPartner

This past week, Sprout Social sent me to Art Basel Miami, where I joined their team for a panel, "Moments to Metrics: Unlocking the ROI of Social Data." It’s fascinating that many brands are still unsure about the impact of social, even though it’s now the intersection of culture, commerce, community, and creativity. Even an offline event like Art Basel is designed to be shared online. Everywhere you look, people are capturing moments to post and share. Why? Social is at the center of culture, community, commerce and content. It's where we're spending almost all our time. A quick look around and everyone at Art Basel, this huge experiential moment, and you realize everyone is posting or looking at what others are posting. The most successful brands have adapted to this change where there is no more mono - culture. There is no more 'Oprah', ie an influencer to the masses. Instead each subculture has its own Oprah. Communities and creators are at the center of media consumption. As a result, the most successful brands we're seeing emerge today don't focus on product market fit - they focus on community market fit. Where can they build a passionate community and then launch a product. Dan Frommer’s consumer trends report last year highlighted this key shift: Creators are driving product exploration, even in categories where consumers aren’t regular buyers, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials." Creators can drive product exploration, "even in new categories where a consumer isn’t necessarily a regular buyer." Sprout understands this incredibly well—they even created a live dashboard to uncover real-time insights from Art Basel. You can get a great snapshot of what online communities were gravitating to and what brands were having the biggest impact. So, if you're curious about the interplay between offline and online at Art Basel, take a peak at what’s trending and check out Sprout Social’s live dashboard.
