Tomorrow’s Set for Success workshop with the Central Bank of Ireland, covering techniques for creative problem solving is the last of the semester. We have had an amazing range of sessions covering everything from embracing technology in practice to the art of persuasion, with over 250 students attending the five workshops 🎉 For all those registered, tomorrow’s session will take place from 2-3 pm in the Moot Court in the Sutherland Building. Yesterday our penultimate Set for Success session took place 📸 This week, students took a deep dive into the art of Advocacy and Influencing with @thebarofireland. This session, focused on developing leadership skills, blended theory and practice to give attendees invaluable insight into advocacy. In the first half, attendees explored 5-6 essential skills for any advocate or barrister: 💼 Authenticity - Staying true to your values. 🤝 Integrity - Building trust through honesty. 📖 Storytelling - Communicating with purpose for your audience. ✍️ Preparation - Mastering every detail. 🎤 Delivery - It’s often how you say it that makes the impact! The second half saw participants putting these skills into action, analysing a complex case study. Their challenge? To work in groups and determine whether to convict or acquit. Last week, we kicked off the UCD Career Mentoring Programme with an exciting launch event in the UCD Village! This programme, a partnership between @ucdcareers and @ucdalumni, has been helping students connect with alumni mentors for over 10 years, and it continues to go from strength to strength. This year, we’re expanding beyond 1:1 mentoring to include mentoring circles, career development workshops, and more, offering students even more ways to learn, grow, and build connections for the future. Thank you to Professor Colin Scott for sharing insights on the benefits of mentorship, and to everyone who made the evening a success! Special shout-out to our inspiring speakers, mentor Grace Oladipo and mentee Verónica Ibeas Fernandez, who highlighted the incredible value of building these connections.
