Wind Energy Ireland are delighted to see EirGrid’s Industry Engagement Plan released ahead of the ORESS 2.1 auction in 2024. This is an important step in supporting the delivery of 5GW of offshore wind generation, crucial to meeting Ireland’s renewable energy targets.
- Industry workshop on ORESS Tonn Nua auction 10.12.24 - EirGrid is playing a key role in meeting the Government’s Climate Action Plan commitment of having 80% of the State’s electricity needs coming from renewable energy ⚡ 🌍 A central pillar of this effort will be the connection of 5GW of offshore generation. We have now published an Industry Engagement Plan for potential offshore wind farm developers of Area A (Tonn Nua) of Government’s South Coast Designated Maritime Area Plan for Offshore Renewable Energy (SC-DMAP). Ireland’s second offshore wind energy auction, ORESS Tonn Nua, will be the first auction to take place as part of the plan-led approach to the delivery of offshore wind and will procure 900 Megawatts of capacity from the recently approved Designated Maritime Area Plan (SC-DMAP) off Ireland’s south coast. The Powering Up Offshore South Coast Industry Engagement Plan provides further clarity and timelines to potential Offshore Wind Developers on EirGrid’s proposed engagement arrangements both prior to and following the auction. ℹ️ View the Powering Up Offshore South Coast Industry Engagement Plan at: https://lnkd.in/eZSeDKbu As part of this plan, an in-person Industry Workshop will be held for all potential bidders into the ORESS Tonn Nua auction on 10th December 2024. 📅 The closing date for registration is 27th November 2024 at 5pm. ✍️ Register at: https://lnkd.in/eer4S5xn #Offshore #OffshoreWind#RenewableEnergy
