XOCEAN is proud to be supporting SSE Renewables & Equinor on their Dogger Bank D offshore wind development. XOCEAN has deployed a fleet of 8 USVs to collect high resolution MBES, SBP, SSS and Magnetometer data. This data will be used to support the consenting process and follow on geotechnical and benthic campaigns. Due to the location of Dogger Bank D, XOCEAN’s USVs will be operating independently up to 230 km from shore. Seabed scour is a persistent challenge for operators of offshore assets. It occurs where hydrodynamic forces such as currents and wave action mobilise seabed material and can lead to the undermining of offshore infrastructure foundations. The rate of erosion can be pronounced during extreme weather events, even around existing scour protection structures. Last week, X-14 completed a periodic inspection of the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline (managed by Palisade Integrated Management Services ) across Bass Strait in southern Australia. The vessel was mobilised from our technical centre in Melbourne and the survey spanned over 300km from Victoria to Tasmania.
