We have published a practical guide to support staff in health, mental health and social care services who are involved in implementing national standards. This guide, called ‘How to put National Standards into Practice: An Implementation Guide for Health, Mental Health and Social Care Services’, has been developed collaboratively with HIQA - Health Information and Quality Authority and other stakeholders with experience of delivering or using health, mental health or social care services. We develop national standards for mental health services which contain descriptions of the processes and procedures that services need to have in place to provide safe, high-quality, person-centred care and support. The guide is designed to support staff to implement national standards and to identify opportunities to improve quality and safety in services. It includes topics for reflection, tools, templates and resources throughout. Access the guide 👉 https://ow.ly/An2L50TQEVP

✨Headspace Toolkit Launch✨ The MHC has published a toolkit to support and empower young people accessing child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) in Ireland. The launch of the ‘MHC Headspace Toolkit’ took place at Croke Park this morning at the Youth Advocate Programmes Ireland National Conference in the presence of young people and their families, youth advocates, professionals in CAMHS and The Ombudsman for Children's Office The purpose of the toolkit - which was developed in consultation with young people with the aim of being age-appropriate and accessible - is to support and empower young people who need to use mental health services – particularly those who need to go into hospital. It gives practical information about what will happen when they are admitted to hospital for mental health care; and includes information about their rights, their legal protections, and how to self-advocate in decisions about their care.
