Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice
The International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (IJPSR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We take all necessary measures to prevent publication malpractices and ensure integrity in scholarly publishing.
Authorship and Contributorship: Authors must ensure that they have significantly contributed to the research work, and all co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission. Ghostwriting, guest authorship, or honorary authorship is strictly prohibited.
Handling of Complaints and Appeals: Any complaints regarding editorial decisions, the peer-review process, or ethical concerns can be formally submitted to the Editor-in-Chief email. All complaints will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with COPE guidelines. Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing valid justifications and supporting evidence.
Conflicts of Interest / Competing Interests: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that could influence the publication process. A Conflicts of Interest Statement must be included in all published articles.
Data Sharing and Reproducibility: Authors should provide raw data upon request to verify research findings, and data availability statements should be included when applicable. Standard protocols and transparency in reporting experimental methods must be followed to ensure reproducibility.
Ethical Oversight: Research involving humans or animals must have obtained ethical approval from recognized ethics committees, and informed consent must be obtained for studies involving human participants. The journal follows strict guidelines on patient confidentiality and data protection.
Intellectual Property and Copyright: Authors retain copyright while granting IJPSR the right of first publication. The journal operates under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unauthorized data use are strictly prohibited.
Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections: IJPSR allows for post-publication discussions through letters to the editor or formal comments. If errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal will issue corrections for minor errors, retractions for serious ethical breaches, or expressions of concern in cases requiring further investigation.
Additionally, all submitted papers undergo plagiarism detection before peer review to ensure originality and ethical compliance. The journal follows a double-blind peer-review process, which typically takes 1–3 months. Authors are strongly advised not to engage with agents or third parties who claim to guarantee quick acceptance, as IJPSR does not authorize any intermediaries for manuscript processing.
By implementing these rigorous ethical policies, IJPSR ensures the integrity, transparency, and credibility of the research it publishes.
Section Policies:
IJPSR welcomes submissions in the form of Review Articles, Original Research Articles, and Short Communications. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published research. The journal follows an open submission policy, allowing authors from diverse backgrounds to contribute. Additionally, all accepted articles are indexed, enhancing their visibility and accessibility within the scientific community.
Editorial Process:
A manuscript will be reviewed for possible publication with the understanding that it is being submitted to International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research alone at that point in time and has not been published anywhere, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere. The journal expects that authors would authorize one of them to correspond with the Journal for all matters related to the manuscript. All manuscripts received are duly acknowledged. On submission, editor review all submitted manuscripts initially for suitability for formal review. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious scientific or technical flaws, or lack of a significant message, if not prepared as per journals instructions are rejected before proceeding for formal peer-review. Manuscripts that are unlikely to be of interest to the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research readers are also liable to be rejected at this stage itself.
Manuscripts that are found suitable for publication in the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research are sent to expert reviewers. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institutes as the contributor/s. Every manuscript is finally reviewed by the Editor of the journal, who based on the comments from the reviewers takes a final decision on the manuscript. The comments and suggestions received from reviewers are conveyed to the corresponding author. If required, the author is requested to provide a point by point response to reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript. This process is repeated till reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript.
Manuscripts accepted for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author. The corresponding author is expected to return the corrected proofs within two days. It may not be possible to incorporate corrections received after that period. The whole process of submission of the manuscript to the final decision and sending and receiving proofs is completed online.
Peer Review Process:
Scientific progress depends on the exchange and discussion of data and ideas. The International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (IJPSR) is dedicated to publishing high-quality scientific and technical research from the Pharmacy and related fields in an open-access format. The peer review process for each article focuses on objective and technical concerns, ensuring that the research is well-conceived, well-executed, and clearly described before it is accepted as part of the scientific record. Unlike many journals that assess the perceived importance of a submission, IJPSR determines whether a paper is technically sound and methodologically robust. Once published, articles remain open for interactive discussions and evaluation, allowing the broader scientific community to assess their significance.
IJPSR does not provide copyediting services for accepted manuscripts. Therefore, authors must ensure that their work is clearly written and intelligible. While perfect English is not required, the language must be clear and unambiguous. If a manuscript is poorly written, reviewers may recommend that authors seek professional editorial assistance before submitting a revision. Poor language and presentation can be valid reasons for rejection.
When submitting an article, authors must confirm that no related manuscript has been submitted elsewhere. If similar work has been submitted to another journal, a copy must be provided along with the IJPSR submission. Reviewers will evaluate the extent of overlap between related submissions.
Additionally, authors must disclose the funding sources that have supported their research. Upon submission, a funding statement must be included, specifying the role of the sponsors, if any, in the study design, data collection, analysis, writing, and decision to publish. If funding agencies had no influence on the research process, authors should include the statement:
“The funders had no role in study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.”
If this statement does not apply, authors must amend it accordingly.
Process for Identification and Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct
At the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (IJPSR), we are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in research and publication. We take allegations of research misconduct seriously and follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines to address such cases with fairness, transparency, and diligence.
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission or publication, citation manipulation, and unethical research practices.
When an allegation of research misconduct is received, either from reviewers, editors, or third parties, the Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial assessment. If the concerns appear valid, a formal investigation is initiated, involving the Editorial Board. The accused author(s) are provided with an opportunity to respond to the allegations. Based on the findings, if misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions are taken, including article retraction, correction, or expression of concern. If the allegations are unsubstantiated, the manuscript proceeds through the normal editorial process.
For confirmed cases of misconduct, the journal may reject or retract the manuscript, notify the author’s institution or funding body, publish a correction or expression of concern, and in severe cases, ban the author(s) from future submissions for a specified period.
Any concerns regarding research misconduct in published articles can be reported to the IJPSR Editorial Office email with supporting evidence. The journal does not encourage, support, or knowingly allow research misconduct and remains committed to upholding the integrity of scholarly publishing.
