A few months ago, I won first place 🥇 in 50:50 Startups' Ideation Program. It was truly a moment of pride, but it left me wondering, what's next? The answer came in the form of 50:50 Startups and SocialTech Lab's startup bootcamp in Cyprus. It was two weeks filled with learning, collaboration, and unforgettable moments. 🚀 The People: The best part was the people. I can’t stress this enough. From the fellow participants turned lifelong friends to the incredible lecturers who generously shared their expertise, I felt like I was part of something bigger. I learned as much from hallway conversations and shared meals as I did from the sessions themselves. 🎯 Lessons I’ll Carry Forward: One of my favorite workshops and the one that really stood out to me the most was the branding session with Martin Zarian. I’ve always struggled with feeling authentic in branding and marketing, but his words completely reframed my perspective: “When your business makes money, you can use it to support the causes you care about.” That simple truth has stuck with me, and it’s reshaped how I think about impact. 📌 Finding Excitement in Competition: One of the most valuable shifts in my mindset has been learning to view competition as a source of motivation. Seeing others work on similar ideas or develop skills in the same space is validating—it’s proof that the area you’re focused on matters, and that there’s demand for these ideas and expertise. Rather than shying away from competition, I’ve started to feel energized by the challenge and inspired by the knowledge that others are thinking and innovating in the same direction. 🔎 Taking the Lessons Forward: This bootcamp wasn’t just about startups—it was about expanding perspectives and sharpening skills. All the insights I’ve gained have left a lasting impression and I’m excited to apply them wherever my journey takes me next! A huge thank you to the 50:50 Startups team(Shai Friedman & Marwan Meqbil) and the SocialTech Lab(Steven W. 🤩 What do you get when you bring together 10 startup teams, a diverse group of dreamers, and two unforgettable weeks in #Cyprus? 🇨🇾✨ ✈️ I’ve just returned from the 50:50 Startups Bootcamp, and it was a journey packed with learning, inspiration and a few unexpected challenges (like figuring out how to navigate roundabouts the Cypriot way 😅). 🛠️ Building Startups from A to Z This wasn’t just a series of lectures. Each day, we were guided step-by-step through what it takes to transform an idea into a sustainable business. Together, we tackled every part of the startup puzzle: ✅ Kicked things off with design thinking led by Demetris Photiou where we learned to question our assumptions and ideate solutions that truly matter. ✅ Explored business modeling with Gizem who showed us how to map out a clear path from concept to execution. ✅ Delved into market analysis with Antonia uncovering strategies to identify customer needs and market gaps. ✅ Mastered financial planning with Pangratios Vanezis from KPMG, because understanding cash flow is as crucial as having a great product. 💰 ✅ Polished our branding skills in a storytelling workshop with Martin Zarian — turning our startups into stories people can’t resist. ✅ Wrapped it all up with an intensive pitching session led by George Vou, who made sure our presentations were not just good but unforgettable. 🤍 But what truly made this experience special was the people. We weren’t just a room full of participants — we were 10 teams, each with its own story, challenges and dreams. Every day, on our 30 minute walk to the CyprusInno Base in the heart of the Buffer Zone, we shared ideas, debated strategies, and, most importantly, learned from one another. 🌍🤝 🌍 Beyond the Workshops: Real-Life Connections We had the chance to visit companies like IREROBOT LTD, who are using #AR technology to tackle hearing challenges, and hear firsthand about their struggles, pivots and successes. These experiences were as eye-opening as they were inspiring. The best part? It wasn’t all business. Each evening, we gathered over dinner — a chance to unwind, laugh and bond. The stories shared over mezze and Cypriot coffee were just as valuable as the lessons from the workshops. 🚀 Exciting News from the Startup Bootcamp in Cyprus! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just completed an intensive two-week Startup Bootcamp in #Nicosia, Cyprus as part of the 50:50 Startups Program! Ruba Sbeih and I had the chance to develop our project, Lazmak alongside a global cohort of entrepreneurs at the SocialTech Lab . This bootcamp covered everything from design thinking, prototyping, finance and impact branding, marketing, artificial intelligence, to pitching and Demo Day. Each session was led by industry experts, equipping us with the skills needed to turn innovative ideas into impactful projects. 🌍 Experiencing Nicosia: Exploring Nicosia’s rich culture and dynamic startup ecosystem was inspiring. Every day in this vibrant city added new insights and experiences to my journey. 🤝 Being Among Entrepreneurs: The energy and passion of fellow entrepreneurs at the bootcamp created an environment filled with creativity and ambition. Being part of this community has sparked new ideas and strengthened my motivation to continue pushing forward.
