Adv. Uri Zichor (CPA), a partner in our Hi-Tech, Technology & Venture Capital practice and head of our Blockchain practice, participated in a panel at the Israel Bar Association conference on “Crypto Markets from a Legal Perspective - What Every Lawyer Needs to Know.” Uri, co-chair of the Israel Bar Association’s Crypto Committee, explained: “This is an important perspective that connects the industry, regulators and service providers in the crypto field. There is a positive and significant trend in which compliance and regulatory professionals - including banks and authorities such as the Capital Markets, Anti-Money Laundering, and Tax Authorities - are more familiar with the industry than ever before and are ready to support its growth. This is perhaps the most important factor for enabling Israel to secure its role as a key market player in the field.”

We invite you to read an article recently published in “Globes” that discusses a fundamental matter in which our firm was involved, and in which the Central District Court summarily dismissed the motion to initiate a class action against Volkswagen and Champion Motors, alleging a defect causing excessive oil consumption in Volkswagen, Skoda , Seat and Audi vehicles. The reason for the dismissal was that a similar motion had previously been filed a decade ago and last year, after years of litigation, the majority of the claims were ultimately rejected. The court ruled that a significant difference must be demonstrated in order to reconsider the matter. Our firm’s team, led by Adv. Tal Wiesengrun, a partner in our Litigation Practice, and senior associate Yoav Schori, successfully represented Champion Motors and Volkswagen in this proceeding. We were pleased to take part in the annual DUN’S 100 Leaders in Law Forum in the field of Urban Renewal. Adv. Liron-Levy Lev, Partner and Co-Head of our Urban Renewal practice, addressed legislative provisions concerning elderly tenants in urban renewal projects. He noted, "The law recognizes the unique needs of elderly tenants and offers several alternatives designed to ease the transition process. An elderly tenant is entitled to choose between two options within the project itself - receiving two smaller apartments or one smaller apartment along with a financial supplement, or a third option outside the project. Under this option, the elderly tenant can choose between full funding for residence in a nursing home with a financial supplement based on the value of the new apartment; receiving another apartment near the project of equivalent value to the one they are entitled to; or receiving a cash sum based on the present value of the future apartment, as stipulated in the agreement. Although the law offers diverse solutions for elderly tenants, there is room for improvement in the existing mechanisms to more broadly address the unique needs of this population."
