EQUITY When assessing the equity risk premium, we focus on the excess returns above the risk-free rate. We also examine how to evaluate current portfolio positioning to achieve a robust return with comparatively low risk. FIXED INCOME Typically, the US economy would have experienced a recession following the inversion of the yield curve. However, the strength of corporate balance sheets, robust market issuance, strong debt service capabilities, and the extension of debt maturities have enabled investment-grade corporate bonds to perform exceptionally well. GEOPOLITICAL UNCERTAINTY The impact of geopolitical uncertainty on portfolio construction is typically limited. It is rare for global events to affect the markets for more than a few weeks. Historical data shows that markets often rebound quickly once initial shocks subside. Therefore, maintaining a diversified and well-balanced portfolio can help mitigate short-term volatility and capitalize on long-term growth opportunities. Israel's national security has never been more challenged from external threats. Clearly Israel has got to defend itself against those threats. However the long term stability of the country and its national security also depends on a robust, advanced and sustainable economy. Our government has tough decisions to make that will affect us for a generation, both on the military and the economic side. These are not issues that can wait until after the war, particularly as we can't really know when that will be.
