This critical interpretive synthesis lays a strong foundation for advancing the role of Living Evidence Syntheses (LESs) in bridging evidence and decision-making, refining LES methodologies, and improving their integration into policymaking processes. The focus on demand-side and supply-side triggers is particularly valuable for aligning evidence production with real-world needs, a critical step in making LESs impactful. We have the potential to create dynamic, continuously updated research frameworks, can we redesign research production to be more responsive? The framework suggests opportunities to: 👉 Coordinate research to reduce duplicative efforts 👉 Create more adaptive evidence for decision-makers 👉 Extend living evidence beyond syntheses to datasets Are we ready to transform how knowledge is produced and shared? #LivingEvidence #EvidenceInformedPolicymaking
Recently published paper provides innovative framework for considering living systematic reviews (LSR) including when to produce a LSR; methodological approaches that facilitate LSR; when to update a LSR; how to make findings available; and when to discontinue. https://lnkd.in/exXAPZh2

On this Palliative Care and Treatment National Day of Awareness, IS-PEC highlights the role of #ImplementationScience in fostering compassionate, evidence-based healthcare that enhances patient quality of life. Palliative care isn’t just about managing end-of-life, it’s about delivering holistic, patient-centered care across the continuum of serious illness. Our mission at IS-PEC is to bridge the gap between evidence and practice, and palliative care helps ensures that patients receive care that aligns with their values and needs. A current study by IS-PEC leverages the Theoretical Domains Framework (#TDF) to identify behavioral and systemic barriers to end-of-life care in oncology. The study explored why oncologists may continue aggressive treatments at end-of-life, despite best-practice guidelines. Findings included key barriers to implementation, facilitators for change and recommendations to transforming end-of-life care. Implementation science offers a roadmap for translating research into action. By identifying what works, for whom, and in what contexts, IS-PEC is driving sustainable change to reduce overtreatment, improve care quality, and enhance patient and provider well-being. On this important day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to compassionate, evidence-based healthcare. Together, we can transform how end-of-life care is delivered, making it more personalized, effective, and aligned with patient values. #PalliativeCareandTreatmentNationalDayofAwareness #PalliativeCare #EndOfLifeCare #ImplementationScience #Oncology Saritte Perlman Aviad Raz Raphael Catane Tamar Freud Moriah Ellen

🌍 World AIDS Day 2024: Bridging Gaps Through Implementation Science 🌍 On this World AIDS Day, we reflect on the strides made in the fight against HIV/AIDS and also recognize the work still needed to close the gap between evidence and practice. A recent article in the Annual Review of Psychology highlights the critical role of behavioral science and psychology in advancing HIV prevention and care. It underscores how implementation science bridges the gap between research and real-world application, ensuring evidence-based interventions reach the communities that need them most. Key insights include: ➡️ Leveraging behavioral interventions to improve adherence to HIV prevention and treatment strategies. ➡️ Addressing structural barriers like stigma and inequity to create more inclusive healthcare systems. ➡️ Using frameworks like implementation science to tailor interventions to diverse cultural and community needs. As we aim to end the HIV epidemic, it’s clear that science alone is not enough. Implementation science ensures that the breakthroughs in labs and journals translate into meaningful outcomes in clinics and communities worldwide. Today, let’s commit to action: advancing equity, dismantling stigma, and scaling up evidence-based solutions. How can we use implementation science to achieve universal HIV care? Let’s share ideas. 🧡 #WorldAIDSDay #ImplementationScience #HIVPrevention #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/djwepNga Brian Mustanski Artur Queiroz James Merle alithia zamantakis, Ph.D. Juan Pablo Zapata, PhD Dennis H. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we must confront the atrocities committed, the systemic failures that allowed them, and the resilience of those who fight for justice. On October 7, Hamas perpetrated horrific acts of terror, abducting over 250 individuals, including women, men, children, infants, and the elderly. Women were subjected to unspeakable gender-based violence, including rape and abuse, weaponized as tools of war. Today, 13 women remain hostages, while many others did not survive, murdered in cold blood or while being held captive in tunnels underground. These crimes are not only acts of violence but stark reminders of the systemic failures in implementing international protections like the Geneva Conventions, which mandate Red Cross access to hostages. At the The Israel National Institute for Health Policy Research (NIHP) conference, Dr. Ayelet Levy Shachar, mother of Naama Levy, currently held hostage in Gaza, spoke with compassion and perseverance during unimaginable hardship. Her words challenge us to confront violence against women everywhere and to honor the resilience of survivors by demanding justice and change. Implementation science teaches us that frameworks and policies are only as effective as their application. The failure to operationalize established protections in this crisis reveals critical gaps between policy and practice. We call on the international community to: ❗ Ensure immediate Red Cross access to all hostages still held captive. ❗Enforce existing policies to protect hostages and hold perpetrators accountable. ❗Review systemic failures and develop actionable solutions to prevent future crises. Violence against women is not just a societal issue, it reflects a systemic failure of policy execution. Implementation science provides the tools to bridge this gap. Let today be a call to action, ensuring that policies are not just words but meaningful safeguards for those most at risk. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #NoExcuse #RapeIsNotResistance #ImplementationScience #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofViolenceAgainstWomen Bring Them Home Now

🌍 World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (Nov 18–24): 🌍 A global spotlight on one of the most critical public health challenges of our time: antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR is a progressive, silent pandemic with devastating health and economic consequences. By 2050, it could cause 10 million deaths annually, disproportionately impacting LMICs, and drive an additional 28 million people into severe poverty. Without effective antimicrobials, healthcare as we know it, surgeries, cancer therapies, transplants, would be severely compromised. Implementation science provides a framework to combat AMR through: 💊 Defining challenges with stakeholders across One Health domains. 💊 Designing strategies that address enablers and barriers to action. 💊 Testing interventions through pragmatic trials and participatory research to ensure sustainability and scale-up. Effective AMR mitigation requires integrating #ImpSci with targeted efforts to build capacity, improve surveillance, and engage communities. Let’s work together to transform this knowledge into action! 👉 https://lnkd.in/dP4muvPw #WAAW2024 #AMR #AntimicrobialResistance #OneHealth #HealthForAll #ImplementationScience #GlobalHealth The International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) Mark Khurana Sabiha Essack Robert Skov
