🛬 *** ISLE OF MAN IMMIGRATION *** 🛬 Humphrey & Helfrich The Isle of Man Immigration Rules (the "Rules"), which are based on and similar, but not identical to, the United Kingdom (UK) Immigration Rules, are made by the Minister for Isle of Man Treasury, and outline the practice to be followed in the administration of the Immigration Acts (as extended to the IOM), for regulating the entry into and the stay of persons in the IOM. Periodically the Treasury Minister makes changes to the Rules which are contained in a Statutory Document laid before Tynwald and catchily entitled: "Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules" (the "Statement"). On 31 October 2024 the changes to the Rules in the latest Statement (SD 2024/0178), which is approx. the 57th Statement to have been made since I first started specialising in Immigration law and practice back in 2007, came into effect (the "Latest Statement"). As, in my opinion, is generally the case, the Latest Statement available to download and read from the Isle of Man Government's official Gov.im website is clear and concise and includes at pages 16 to 20 an Explanatory Note which provides a very helpful lay explanation of those changes to the Rules effected by the Latest Statement. https://lnkd.in/eEZaWCaw Whilst I think it's relatively uncontroversial that the 900+ page Rules, despite following a fairly logical format, is a pretty difficult document to navigate, with many pit-falls for the unwary, the Statement really isn't, and I'd encourage anyone interested in IOM Immigration to read the Latest Statement. Given the amount of time that I, Chris Blackburn and the rest of the Humphrey & Helfrich Immigration / Relocation team, spend reading the Rules, it isn't too surprising that on occasion we will spot the odd typo / error, which we bring to the attention of an officer involved in the drafting of the Statement, and which, I am pleased to say, is invariably addressed in the next Statement. This informal collaboration does add an extra "interest-factor" for us when any new Statement is introduced and the Latest Statement doesn't disappoint. Credit to the Treasury's immigration team for its commitment to making, what is a complex and technical area of law, as clear and user friendly as possible. #immigration #isleofman #law #relocation

An excellent Wednesday as Humphrey & Helfrich is the only law firm in the Isle of Man to be acknowledged in the newly announced Legal 500 rankings as achieving excellence in client satisfaction. The acknowledgment is only awarded to those firms which achieve “truly outstanding” scores for client service and customer experience. This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our entire team. The firm is ranked in six practice areas and once again receives excellent rankings and client feedback, including the firm and team members being described as possessing “extensive knowledge”, being “efficient and quick to respond” and providing “clear, concise advice and guidance”. We are grateful to our clients for their continued trust and support, and to our team for their skill and commitment. We look forward to continuing to exceed expectations in the years to come! #Legal500 #ClientSatisfaction #IsleofManLaw #HumphreyandHelfrich #TopLawFirm #ExcellenceInLaw #ClientFocused #LegalExcellence #Teamwork
