PlayStation Is Ready To Bring Back Old Titles, Says Co-CEO Hermen Hulst
PlayStation is also looking to develop new franchises as well.
The classic titles from the PS1, PS2, and PS3 have been delisted, but PlayStation's co-CEO Hermen Hulst revealed that the company is open to reviving these classic games for fans. He also provided insights into PlayStation's live-service game, Concord.
In an interview by Famitsu (reported by VGC), Hulst stated, “The various IPs that we own are an important asset to PlayStation, and as part of our efforts to strengthen our portfolio, we are continually looking at opportunities to leverage past IP, as well as develop new franchises. Our goal is to publish games by the world’s best creators, both inside and outside of PlayStation, and we have achieved many successes so far by working closely with external development studios.”
While PlayStation's live-service PvP hero shooter, Concord, was shut down, Hulst also mentioned that PlayStation will focus on making live-service titles, along with story-driven single-player titles that fans want. He further stated, “We are learning a lot as we establish the ability to develop high-quality live-service titles within SIE. Helldivers 2 attracted many players through continuous content provision and achieved results that support the potential of live-service titles.”
Moreover, there are a variety of titles coming to PS5 in 2025, including sequels like Ghost of Yotei, along with titles such as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and more. Apart from these, there are also third-party exclusives like Phantom Blade Zero, Where Winds Meet, and more.
