Introduction - The discussion started with the introductory details about QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) which is an informal strategic forum comprising four nations i.e. India,Japan,USA, Australia. Members further discussed about its origin in 2004 Tsunami Crisis to its revival in 2017. Citing its objectives like countering the economic and military rise of China in global south east and in Indo-Pacific reason to Work for a free, prosperous and inclusive Indo-Pacific without any political and military influence of any other nation. Moving towards the strategic importance of Indo-Pacific region which is home to 60% of world population carrying 2/3rd of global economic output and holding 60% of world trade with enormous maritime resources and rare earth metals, we further discussed about India's role and strategic interests in QUAD which includes QUAD as an unique opportunity to engage in regional cooperation with USA and its Asian allies to counter China and its increasing influence with the benefits of getting Economic and Technological co-operation from countries like Japan. Further members discussed the challenges and criticism like lack of formal structure, engagement in Maritime movement only and dependence of the QUAD nations on China.At last we ended with citing the worsening implications of QUAD on India-China relations which is creating a geopolitical rivalry between these two nations and it'll be challenging for India to manage ASEAN and BRICS along with QUAD as China has already said QUAD as an ASIAN NATO Conclusion:- This session gave us a comprehensive analysis of QUAD highlighting its origin, objective and its importance for both India and the Indo-Pacific region.Diversified partnerships and selective cooperation will further safeguard India's sovereignty while benefiting from Quad initiatives.
