Happy World Soil Day! As we celebrate World Soil Day today, let us also reflect upon the importance of soil health in shaping a sustainable future. This year’s theme, “Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage,” highlights the importance of a proactive, data-driven approach to soil sustainability. As part of our initiatives focusing on regenerative agriculture with our partners, we focus on: - Quantifiable improvements in soil health, such as increasing organic matter content and enhancing microbial activity through regenerative practices - Monitoring soil nutrient cycles, including carbon management, water sustainability, and biodiversity conservation - Analysing key soil health indicators like soil moisture, temperature, and carbon sequestration rates to ensure long-term benefits Soil is the very foundation of life. On this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting and nurturing soils – and pledge to sustain soil health through scientific, data-driven, and environment-friendly practices. Alliance of Cotton & Textile Stakeholders on Regenerative Agriculture (ACRE) is a collaborative platform for regenerative agriculture, which unites stakeholders across cotton and textile sectors to achieve objectives of farmer empowerment and carbon impact, among others. The founding members of ACRE are Solidaridad Asia, Centre for Responsible Business and regenagri Literature has long cited the importance of decarbonisation in the textiles industry and there is increasing evidence that steps are being taken in the direction of net zero pathway by respective stakeholders in the textiles and apparels value chain. Consider this report titled Landscape and Opportunities to Finance the Decarbonization of India’s Apparel Manufacturing Sector by Apparel Impact Institute, published in November 2024. Among many insights, it highlights the role of platforms, as they ‘serve as intermediaries, bridging the gap between stakeholders by providing access to relevant data, funding opportunities, and networks.’ This report also ends with a Call to Action that recommends capacity-building, access to finance, among others to advance the agenda of decarbonisation. Alliance of Cotton & Textile Stakeholders on Regenerative Agriculture (ACRE) is a collaborative platform for regenerative agriculture, which unites stakeholders across cotton and textile sectors to achieve objectives of farmer empowerment and carbon impact, among others. The founding members of ACRE are Solidaridad Asia, Centre for Responsible Business and regenagri Decarbonisation in the textile sector is fast being incorporated at the operational level by stakeholders across the textiles value chain. Rationale for the adoption include brands setting commitments that align with net zero pathway and given the resource intensity during the upstream stages in the textiles value chain, among others.   On the heels of #COP29, the rules under Article 6 have paved the way for carbon trading. Centre for Responsible Business organised the 11th edition of India and Sustainability Standards International Dialogues and Conference from 13th-15th November. On 14thNov, a session was conducted on “Opportunities and Challenges in Promoting Regenerative Cotton Value Chain in India: Fair Voice, Fair Credibility & Fair Carbon”. Q&Q was invited to present a paper in this session on their ongoing work with Alliance of Cotton & Textile Stakeholders on Regenerative Agriculture  (ACRE, https://lnkd.in/dwrtFjz6). Q&Q was represented by Dr. Megha Joshi, Dr. Surbhi Bansal and Mr. Prasenjit Das. During the session, Dr. Megha Joshi talked about the current scenario of Regenerative and sustainable Cotton in India including the certification process, status of price premium received, challenges and way forward.
