Goldman Sachs is rolling out its "GS AI assistant" to 10,000 employees, marking a significant step toward integrating AI-powered tools into its workforce. The assistant will handle tasks like summarizing and proofreading emails and translating code between programming languages. According to Marco Argenti, Goldman's Chief Information Officer, the AI tool aims to streamline tasks and enhance efficiency, with the potential to mimic human-like behaviors in the future. While the initiative is positioned as a tool to make employees' lives easier, it underscores a broader trend in the financial sector, with companies like J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley also investing in AI solutions. Despite concerns over AI hallucinations and cybersecurity risks, Goldman is pushing forward, hinting at a future where AI tools evolve to work autonomously, checking their own output and potentially replacing roles involving repetitive tasks. However, Argenti emphasizes that human oversight will remain crucial in shaping and empowering AI for years to come.

With the Union Budget 2025 on the horizon, AI is set to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s future. The IndiaAI Mission, launched in 2024 with a ₹10,000 crore outlay, has already allocated ₹551 crore to democratise AI innovation. “We expect targeted funding and grants for AI R&D, aligning with global trends that attract over $100 billion in annual investment,” said Ankush Sabharwal, CEO of CoRover. Ajai Chowdhry, HCLTech co-founder, emphasised the need for ESOP tax reforms to empower startups. “It would be more equitable to tax ESOPs only when the shares are sold,” he noted. Zerodha CTO Kailash Nadh called for prioritising research over infrastructure. “High-quality AI research is way more important than GPUs, which are merely an ephemeral means to an end,” he said. Big tech is also stepping in, with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announcing a $3 billion investment in India’s AI infrastructure and a goal to train 10 million individuals by 2030. The mission’s initiatives, from AI Compute Capacity and indigenous LLMs to the IndiaAI Datasets Platform, underscore a transformative vision for India’s AI ecosystem. As Sabharwal said, “A balanced approach will contribute to India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2027 and a developed nation by 2047.” Read more - https://lnkd.in/gGAwZSEz

At the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Union Minister Smriti Irani called for a global narrative shift, urging Indians to lead discussions on inclusion, climate change, and health innovation. “For too long, we have focused on what we can do for India. It’s time we shift the narrative to Indians leading global conversations,” she stated. Highlighting gender equality's potential $12 trillion global gain by 2025, Irani questioned, “How do we reach that number?” She also addressed the disproportionate impact of AI and automation on women’s jobs and cautioned, “AI agents will lead to further displacement of talent. Are we ready for it?” At the Grace Hopper Celebration India 2024, Sindhu Gangadharan, MD of SAP Labs India, emphasized the need for women to lead in AI, pointing out their underrepresentation, with only 25% of AI researchers being female. “Now is the time to change that narrative. It’s time for women to take centre stage in the AI revolution, not as participants, but as leaders,” she urged. Both leaders underscored the importance of inclusion and women’s leadership in shaping the future of innovation. Read the complete article to know more. Link in the comment 🔗
