Throwback times to a fantastic five-day Asia New College Graduate Ambassador Program held in our Applied Materials South East Asia office. Over 40 new college graduates enthusiasts from India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore came together for an eventful week, to collaborate in a series of engaging activities that included lab tours, career-boosting workshops, discussions on Technology, R&D, leadership, people management and many more. We celebrated Children's Day this year by visiting few government schools we manage under the Rural Rising program in Mulbagal, a taluk in the Kolar district in Karnataka. Joining us in our celebrations were Simon Dunning, Chief Digital Officer, Applied Materials, along with his wife, few leaders and employee volunteers from Bangalore office. It was a day filled with learnings, interesting conversations and fun interactions as students showcased Simon and the leaders how digitalization is helping them learn, and integrated labs for English and STEM in the schools are bridging the gaps. A student group came together in another school to present a Mock Children's parliament in which they discussed serious social issues affecting their communities such as corruption, child marriage, dowry, drop out of girl child from schools etc. Their excitement and enthusiasm was infectious and we came back feeling proud and inspired! What a day at #BTS2024! Here are some highlights from us and our booth for today. As part of the Electro & Semicon track, we had Suraj Rengarajan join other esteemed industry leaders in an engaging panel discussion on 'How to scale semiconductor manufacturing and make it technically and commercially successful.' Suraj shared his thoughts on various aspects such as talent capability and capacity in India, and challenges companies face in scaling and commercializing in semiconductor manufacturing in India. He also said that while there is competition from global players, the government plays a crucial role and needs to focus on infrastructure readiness, enable the growth of the Semicon ecosystem, and accelerate the essential support required to drive the industry forward.
