With deep pain, we inform the passing away of the legendary architect, Navnath Kanade. Today, the architectural community mourns the loss of Navnath Kanade, a visionary whose work alongside his brother, Shankar Kanade, profoundly influenced the architectural landscape of Bangalore and beyond. Through their practice, Shilpa Sindoor, they championed socially relevant and contextually grounded architecture, creating sustainable housing solutions that reflected both economic sensibility and environmental harmony. Navnath Kanade was not only a pioneering architect but also an inspiring mentor, shaping generations of architects through his innovative teaching methods. His contributions to Indian architecture, notably projects like Keremane and Jal Vayu Vihar, will remain enduring symbols of thoughtful, people-centric design. As we remember him, his legacy of humility, creativity, and service to society stands as a guiding light for architects and educators everywhere. May his soul rest in peace, and may his work continue to inspire future generations.
