Hi there, We hope your new year is off to a warm and hopeful start. On that note, we wanted to share our NGO partner's amazing work in Maharashtra over the past 10 years. The work enables rural women to acquire trades which have a demand in the towns where they reside. They range from computer-based skills which lead to jobs to home-based ones like tailoring. There are over 16 trades which have worked in different locations which ensures that they can make a living off it. If you are between 18-65 yrs old  and not on a chronic medication or no recent illness, head to the nearest blood bank and donate blood. Why? Because some one definitely needs it. In case you were not aware there is always a shortfall of blood for chronic diseases, accident patients or any other procedure. What do we like most about volunteering? I guess meeting complete strangers and having a chat about the place, traffic, weather and also mentioning how to pronounce Ashwidea ( aashw-idea) Most of them get an opportunity to connect with the outdoors in this case and have some fun with their colleagues while doing their bit for their city. We were just hanging around in the background letting the amazing team at our partner NGO ECO WATCH do their bit along with lovely folks from Autodesk India. Like we said before we aim to provide low-waste alternatives in our work like steel tumblers ( is it because it tumbles!) for water and also make handwritten signs. I am allergic to preaching, both receiving and giving. While I have been on a path of low-waste & reuse till it falls apart, which annoys people around me, sometimes ( yup people have been kind !) I believe that change such as low-waste, environment-friendly one cannot be shoved down people's throats or policied (the single-use plastic ban is mildly successful anecdotally speaking) All one can do and all I do in my work in Ashwidea is to explore possibilities which exist to embrace a sustainable lifestyle. Many of them look great and do the job. Like this lovely glass bottle which houses the money plant or many such ones which my mother and turned into Home decor. So consider some alternatives which will reduce waste by reusing as much as possible before you get into recycling. Hope the rains have not screwed up your commute! Cancer treatment is tough and long even if it's for those cancers which are treatable and manageable. Families often land up in Mumbai and other locations for treatment and most often with very little to sustain themselves. Helping them with supplies, and utensils to cook food for themselves goes a long way in ensuring they continue the treatment and hopefully get cured. Certain patients also need extra help to boost their immunity, ensuring they don't fall sick and continue fighting. What can I say I love Peppa Pig! and how it has motivated me to keep cycling! After dilly-dallying for months about what slipper to buy, considering environmental impact and then realising maybe I could manage with what I have. Finally, egged by my daughter I got myself Crocs and not just that I decided to get Jibbitz ( which I pronounce as jez bitz .. don't ask why) too. Those are embellishments which you can stick in holes of Crocs. I got the Peppa Pig one....and my eye fell on the bigger collection of 4 other Peppa ones too. I was cycling regularly, increasing my mileage...but not setting a goal. Then I thought maybe I would get another one when I cycle 50 km in one ride. Next, I got to chalking out the routes, and times I have to wake up in the morning so I can finish my ride and be around when my daughter gets ready for school. PS: my cycling time is 430 am at my current mileage, don't even think of attempting during the day ( traffic, pollution and heat will defeat you) Travel, sleep and some shoulder pain..pushed my target from Nov to 8th Dec. ....last week I was supposed to do 3h which would have given me 47 km. I told myself..aur 3 km hi to hai ..let's do it. Thankfully the route I chose from Jayanagar to Hennur and beyond was fairly flat, and had decent roads and no traffic. I clocked 3h 20 and approx 55 km. I was hoping to head to Crocs to get the next Jibbitz and was hoping to get George or Miss Rabbit. Unfortunately, it was not in stock and I was not keen on ordering online for such a small item ( packaging, carbon etc... you know what i will say to myself) So I am sticking with Peppa for now ( Pluto which the store gave me free for no reason is on the other foot) .....what is the point..I guess nothing..but hey I am looking forward to reaching 75km next...Peppa or not Have a good day and week ahead.

Yup, I ate that right off the guava plant. I didn't attempt to peel off Thogrikai ( Green tur daal) but I understand it's quite tasty to eat it raw. These are as they say field visits ke side effects and would count as good ones. The visit was with knowledgeable, Ullhas from ECO WATCH to the work in North Bangalore where the work has helped restore lakes. That has enabled Guava, tur daal, Ragi and much more to be grown and even seen folks return to farming.
