As the incidence of Lung Cancer continues to rise in India, it is imperative that we stand together to spread knowledge, support research, and advocate for early detection. Over 55 million people in India are estimated to have COPD. It is the second leading cause of death in India, after ischemic heart disease contributing to over 500,000 deaths annually. The heart and lungs are intrinsically linked: as one struggles, the other is affected. Cardiovascular complications account for nearly 30% of deaths in people with COPD, a sobering statistic that shows why managing COPD is vital for heart health. Regular check-ups and discussions with a healthcare provider are essential. Monitoring heart health and lung function allows for early detection of complications, and tailored treatments can reduce strain on the cardiovascular system. Speak with your healthcare provider about COPD management, make lifestyle adjustments, and consider the options available to protect both lung and heart health. Your heart and lungs work together to keep you going—let’s make sure they’re both well-cared for. Breathe Easier. Live Better

In a vital move to protect the health of our youngest and most vulnerable, AstraZeneca India proudly partners with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) to spotlight Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) awareness. This collaboration, launched ahead of World Prematurity Day, aims to champion better health outcomes for premature infants. RSV poses a serious risk to premature infants, often leading to severe respiratory illnesses. With over 90% of infants contracting RSV by the age of two, it is crucial that we equip healthcare professionals, parents, and caregivers with the knowledge and tools to protect our children. Our partnership with IAP emphasizes the importance of timely intervention and preventive strategies to mitigate the impact of RSV. Through educational initiatives and hybrid awareness sessions across major cities, we aim to empower pediatricians and healthcare providers to take proactive measures against this growing public health challenge. At AstraZeneca, we are committed to transforming patient outcomes and addressing unmet medical needs through innovative therapies. Together with IAP, we strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity for a healthier future. https://lnkd.in/gSZRWpkd
