Did you know that the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) could potentially increase steel import costs by 6%? With steel being the first industry required to report emissions and facing taxation from January 2026, staying ahead by reducing emissions is now a critical business strategy. Our Carbon Management & Renewable Energy teams partnered with the The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) Southern Chapter to host a knowledge-sharing webinar focused on helping steel manufacturers prepare for CBAM compliance and embrace decarbonization solutions. Key insights from the session: 🔶Carbon Credits & CBAM Compliance Raghav Nandakumar, our Sustainability and Climate Services Team Lead, explained that CBAM's implementation is nearing faster than we’d imagined when it was first announced. Default values are designed to factor in maximum emissions. Reporting actual emissions not only reduces certificate costs but also provides a competitive edge by lowering overall compliance costs. ☀️ Rooftop Solar as a Game-Changer Frano D'Silva, Renewable Energy Analyst, put forward the advantages of renewable energy and energy efficiency as “low-hanging fruits” for reducing emissions. Using Solsavi - Your Rooftop Solar Guide’s simulation tools and marketplace, users can derive the 25-year cost savings potential of switching to rooftop solar in this energy-intensive industry. By acting now, steel manufacturers can not only ensure CBAM compliance but also turn sustainability into a market advantage. #IIFevent #CBAM #decarbonization #ghg #aurovilleconsulting #steelindustry #carbonmanagement #sustainability #AVC #solarpower #climatemitigation #import #export #carbontax #carboncredit #carbonmitigation #carbonoffsetting #businessadvantage #marketgrowth #salesgrowth

Exploring the Potential of AgriPV Systems in India We assessed the suitability of AgriPV for potato farming in Pune district and apple farming in Shimla and Kullu districts. The evaluation considered factors such as landholding patterns, along with environmental, social, and economic conditions. These crops were chosen as they are predominant in the respective areas and are currently cultivated by the farmers engaged with GIZ India as part of the project - Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector initiative. While initial farmer awareness of AgriPV was limited, there was a growing interest in the potential financial benefits and environmental advantages. This visit is in follow-up to our previous visit to assess the feasibility of integrating AgriPV systems into Indian agriculture. The Delhi site visit provided valuable insights into the practical implementation of AgriPV systems, as the farm already had an operational AgriPV installation. This allowed us to observe firsthand the system’s performance and its impact on crop yield and farmer income. We observed that farms in these regions were already adopting sustainable practices such as solar water pumps and drip irrigation. Integrating AgriPV into these systems can further optimize resource utilization and provide an alternative source of income for the farmers. While challenges such as potential yield reduction and upfront costs exist, the long-term benefits of AgriPV, include increased energy security, reduced carbon emissions, and improved rural livelihoods, make it a promising solution for sustainable agriculture in India. By addressing these challenges and promoting innovative financing mechanisms, we can empower stakeholders to make conscious decisions in adopting AgriPV systems and contribute to a sustainable future for Indian agriculture. #AgriPVvisit #SolarEnergy #energy #Renewableenergy #aurovilleconsulting #Agrivoltaics #Landuse #AgriPV #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateAction #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #GreenTechnology #FarmTech #ClimateSmartAgriculture #India #giz #solarpump #potatofarming #applefarming

AFOLU - Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use is representative of the potential of land on our planet. Human activities like farming of crops and animals, deforestation and planting trees impact the land’s properties. Every land, whether in use or left barren, has a carbon absorption or emission factor, defined by its past and current use. Ria Jain shed light on this issue in her recent presentation to our team. Ria then presented land use change strategies to increase its potential for carbon absorption. Akanksha Galagali framed those takeaways as a 🏜️Land Use Change (LUC) Game 🏞️. This session was a great follow-up, holding the players responsible for the inhabitants of their land and its sequestration potential. As the players, we explored short and long carbon cycles, land-use effects, and the importance of planning ahead.
