HOW TO ROCK THE WORLD IN 2026? ========================= The UN has declared 2026 as the "International Year of Volunteers". It's a great opportunity to make volunteering super-cool, across all age groups, get people to go out there and do something- teach a child, get your civic authorities to improve roads/sewage/lighting, organise health camps, deliver entitlements and identities to the poor- whatever makes a difference and appeals to one's heart. If you're an NGO, corporate or organisation that engages volunteers, how do YOU think we can leverage the 2026 IYV to increase visibility and impact of volunteering in India? Kolkata Changemakers gathering 3.0 - 8th Feb 2025, at Offbeat CCU. Aishik (from Avagam Ventures) and me (from Veditum India Foundation) co-facilitated the gathering. We co-hosted the gathering with Meghdut & Pauline, and in collaboration with Make Calcutta Relevant Again (MCRA). The community in Kolkata keeps surprising me. To show up on a Saturday evening and think about problems that need solving in Kolkata. It gives me so much hope! We can make change happen. People from different backgrounds and at different stages of their change making journey were present in the gathering. After a quick speed date for intros, we had people work together on problem identification and solutioning. Problems that are important for the city of Kolkata. Issues such as waste, civic sense, risk capital, financial literacy, climate, and more surfaced through discussions. We're now going to push further to see how we can make some of these discussions turn into action! Big thanks to Meghdut for offering the Offbeat space to host this gathering!
