Ayekart recently organised a specialised training session for 40 members of various Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) connected with Abhinav Vikas Samiti in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. The session aimed to enhance the trading skills and digital business practices of these organisations. Participants were trained in demand aggregation for rice, quality control using moisture meters, efficient logistics management, and setting appropriate payment terms with buyers. These skills are expected to maximise their profitability during the ongoing Kharif rice season. Additionally, they were introduced to Ayekart’s FPO management platform, Ayekrishi, for streamlined business management, market linkage, and access to finance. Through hands-on demonstrations, participants gained valuable insights into key market parameters, including identifying quality standards, setting payment terms, and understanding buyer expectations. This initiative underscores Ayekart’s commitment to strengthening grassroots capabilities, creating a robust sourcing network for processors, improving market access, and fostering sustainable growth in rural communities. AyeKart Fintech recently participated in the Regional Workshop on Rural Livelihoods, hosted by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY - NRLM). Rajesh Jain, President of Partnerships and Programmes, represented the organization as a distinguished panellist. The session addressed critical gaps in the agri and food value chains that limit opportunities for rural communities. One key area highlighted was the need to empower Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with training in market price discovery, enabling them to move beyond reliance on mandi prices and realize the actual value of their commodities. Another crucial discussion centred around a common challenge faced by FPOs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs)—the misconception that value-added products automatically command premium pricing based on perceived quality. Ayekart is working to bridge this gap by leveraging its robust distribution and retail network to provide these groups with market insights and opportunities, thereby helping them thrive in competitive markets. The transformative potential of technology was also emphasized, with Ayekart's FPO Management Platform- AYEKRISHI enabling farmer groups to digitize operations, manage businesses efficiently, and connect with financial institutions for easier access to credit. The workshop was attended by NRLM representatives from six states, providing a platform to share a vision of thriving rural communities empowered by knowledge, technology, and strong partnerships. Our team participated in the Buyer-Seller Meet organised by the Grameen Foundation India in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on November 18. The event, themed "Connecting FPOs to Market and Finance for Economic Growth and Improving Their Sustainability," brought together a vibrant mix of agri-startups and Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs). Farmer Producer Organisations (#FPOs) face numerous challenges due to the absence of a robust decision-making system, which undermines their business efficiency and profitability. At Grameen, we are dedicated to addressing these challenges and enabling FPOs to make informed decisions for sustainable growth. As part of our ongoing efforts in the second phase of Market Access eNabled by Digital Innovation in India(#MANDI II), we recently organized a two-day workshop on "Strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations to Leverage Ag-Tech Solutions and Digital Marketing Platforms through Digital Literacy to Improve Business Efficiency and Resilience", held on 13th and 14th November 2024 in Varanasi. The workshop brought together 98 participants from 47 FPOs across Eastern Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, aiming to enhance their efficiency and resilience in the agricultural sector through the use of AgTech and digital literacy. On Day 1, participants were introduced to Grameen Kisaan Connect (#GKC), powered by AyeKart Fintech, one of our current partners. GKC offers a seamless digital experience that links farmers and FPOs to demand and supply chains, promoting sustainable growth from the farm gate to the institutional level. The hands-on session equipped the FPOs with the tools needed to make data-driven decisions, find digital marketplaces, and facilitate online transactions. 🌱 Day 2 of the workshop focused on digital literacy, featuring interactive sessions on basic digital skills, including the use of smartphones, tablets, and laptops for navigating the internet and accessing agricultural information. Participants learned how to leverage digital communication tools like WhatsApp and SMS for advisory services, and explored social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to connect with farming communities. 💪 What We Achieved: FPO members gained confidence in using digital tools to streamline operations and connect with broader markets 🌍. The workshop promoted collaboration, knowledge sharing , and actionable strategies to overcome digital barriers in agriculture 🌾🤝 We’re excited about the positive impact this workshop will have on the business resilience of FPOs, paving the way for a digitally enabled and sustainable agriculture ecosystem!
