Preservation isn’t just about embalming the past—it’s about moving forward thoughtfully and intentionally, ensuring that we continue to cherish the past in a way that it becomes a foundation for tomorrow. At Baaya Design, we believe in preserving India’s rich artisanal legacy by reimagining traditional crafts for modern spaces. Each art form we work with tells a story—a narrative passed down through generations, deeply rooted in cultural heritage and infused with meaning. How do we do it? Engaging with grassroots artisan: Our founder, Shibani Dasgupta Jain, has traveled across India, personally meeting artisans, learning their stories, and understanding the essence of their craft. This deep, personal connection drives our mission to preserve and celebrate these incredible art forms. Working with Crafts: We innovate selected traditional art and craft forms, ensuring they remain relevant and vibrant in contemporary spaces. Education & Community Building: Through our craft and art workshops, we provide hands-on learning experiences that teach traditional techniques and connect artisans, creators, and enthusiasts. Together, we’re building a community that celebrates and sustains India’s diverse artistic heritage. Stay tuned—there’s so much more to experience with Baaya Design

From Design Democracy to India Design, Grounded became a crowd favourite—capturing hearts and sparking conversations. Created using Baaya’s signature Crafts—Copper Enamel, Metal Artistry, and Wood Carving—Grounded brings the essence of the forest into our crafted spaces. The textures and forms echo the vibrant imprints of nature, it is a symphony of craftsmanship that brings to life the harmonious existence within the forest—every line, every curve inspired by the resilience and beauty of the earth. At the heart of Grounded is the DNA helix structure, symbolizing the very blueprint of life—a profound reminder of how we are inextricably linked to the natural world. It speaks of interconnection, resilience, and the eternal cycles that sustain all living beings. At Baaya Design, our design ecosystem is built on the principles of connection, sustainability, and co-creation with our artisans—a journey that goes beyond crafting objects to creating stories, experiences, and relationships that are as deep and enduring as the forest. The possibilities with Grounded are endless. We believe in creating more than just art—we craft experiences that resonate deeply. If Grounded speaks to you and you can envision it in your space, let’s bring that vision to life. Each piece is custom-made, and it all begins with a conversation. Today, we join the world in mourning the loss of Mr. Ratan Tata, a visionary whose principles of humility and integrity have shaped the ethos of many principled corporates in India. Our founder, Shibani Jain, began her career with the Tata Group, and this was where, she first encountered the exceptional ethos that Mr. Tata nurtured— values that have since become the compass of our company as well. "Mr. Tata was not just a titan of industry; he was a visionary who believed that the core of business lies in fairness, integrity, and a commitment to the greater good. His approach to leadership—marked by humility, foresight, and an unwavering respect for all—was nothing short of exceptional. He taught us that true leadership comes from the quiet strength of moral conviction and the courage to uphold one's values in every decision.” - Shibani Dasgupta Jain May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to guide and inspire us all.

At Baaya Design, our design philosophy extends beyond aesthetics and functionality. We aim to construct spaces that serve as a bridge between our cultural heritage and modern aspirations. Our latest project, a stunning home located in the heart of Chennai, is a prime example of this approach, where the idea of preserving traditional art & craft forms meets craft innovation. We aim to create a rich story that encapsulates the beliefs and interests of the family that reside here. ✏️ Our design philosophy for this project is deeply rooted in cultural homage. By incorporating elements like the traditional Kerala Boat race sculptures and tapestry murals, we pay tribute to local artistry while fostering a connection with the region's heritage. 🏯 Each space within the residence is a testament to Chennai’s artisanal legacy blended with modern aesthetics. From the grand atrium adorned with the Golden Ratio sculpture to the tranquil bedrooms featuring the Chennai Flora Fauna murals, every corner tells a story. The use of natural materials like terracotta and ceramic not only enhances the tactile experience but also reflects the local landscape’s essence. #StayTuned as we are just scratching the surface with what this project promises. As we continue to unfold layers of this intricate project, keep an eye out for more updates on how we’re turning traditional narratives into modern masterpieces. #BaayaDesign #Architecture #ArchitecturalDesign #InteriorDesign #Design #IndianArchitects #ResidenceDesign #ResidentialDesign #IndianArchitecture
