About us
Bharat Krishak Samaj (BKS) is one of India’s leading non-partisan farmer’s organisations that is an advocate for farmer prosperity along with healthy, sustainable, inclusive and equitable food systems that benefit farmers, consumers, our country and the planet. Established by Dr Panjabrao S. Deshmukh on April 3, 1955, BKS is a common meeting ground where everyone interested in strengthening the food systems can meet and put their intelligence, resources and energy to good use to help those engaged in producing more from their land. Farmers feed the world and responsibly manage much of the world’s natural resources – soil, water, and energy. Yet rural families are amongst the world’s poorest, most malnourished and most vulnerable to climate change. BKS makes evidence-based food and agriculture policy recommendations based on farming experience, as well as multi-stakeholder research, partnerships and events such as dialogues, workshops and conferences.

Dear Friends, Bharat Krishak Samaj is convening a conference on “Agriculture in the Amrit Kaal” from 12.00 Noon to 5.30 PM on Friday, 17th May 2024 in New Delhi. An Agenda is attached with the email. We’d be delighted with your participation. Due to the limited number of seats, we request you to reserve your seat at the earliest by filling in this request form: https://lnkd.in/gWF9qH2H . In this century, Indian Agriculture has been grappling to move on from the old model, and policymakers have not yet worked out how to ensure dignified livelihoods for farmers. The policies have so far had mixed success. With the benefit of hindsight, many decisions could have been taken differently. Amidst parliamentary elections, political parties are promising significant policy reforms. Rather than them chasing chimeras, Bharat Krishak Samaj is convening a series of conferences envisioning “strategic autonomy” rather than “self-sufficiency” in agricultural production; where productivity gains are broadly shared and the growth is inclusive. List of Speakers Future of Agriculture Siva Kumar, Group Head-Agri & IT Businesses –ITC Limited. Agriculture research and development C D Mayee, Former Chairman Indian Agri. Scientists Recruitment Board Credit & Risk Samir Shah,Co-founder & managing trustee - Dvara Holdings Pulses and Oilseeds Sunil Kumar Singh, Managing Director, NAFED Digitalization Purushottam Kaushik, Head-Centre for the 4th Industrial Revolution WEF Tea Break Market & Market Places Unupom Kausik, Sr. Vice President, Olam India Farmer perspective Raju Shetty, Former M.P. & Farmer leader Water Crisis Balwinder Sidhu, Former Commissioner- Agriculture, Punjab Policy & Governance T.Nanda kumar, Former Secretary Agriculture, GOI Rural Voice has kindly consented to be our media partner for the event.
