Where there is passion, there is creativity; where there is determination, there are successes out of struggles and where there is personal development, there is an admittedly phenomenal achievement. It is with great pleasure that I am able to state my involvement in EXIMIUS - IIM Bangalore's Entrepreneurship Summit 2024. I was quite fascinated by the people who were present there as they were a combination of industrialists, technicians, designers, and visionaries. The session I was most looking forward to at the summit was a great chance for me to meet with the Chairman of Akshara Foundation , Mr. Ashok Kamath is a giant personality in education especially in the social sector initiating and coordinating many literacy enhancement programmes all over Karnataka. In his leadership position of the Akshara Foundation, well-explored achievements have been realized towards enhancing the performance of the children all over the state, thereby indicating the social functioning could be made a massive change with focused endeavors. Mr Kamath’s experience created awareness to the audience on how agile efforts boost an individual's life through education step by step. Having successfully managed many crucial positions in the business world among which are Managing Director of Analog Devices India, he joined the nonprofit organization in 2003. Since then, he has devoted himself sincerely to develop educational systems as the Chairman of the Akshara Foundation. Kamath sir, IIT Bombay graduate, completed his MSc in Mathematics at the institute in the year 1981. He made an imprint in the field of education through projects such as co-founding Pratham Books and fighting for Open education resources through Creative Commons at Akshara Foundation. Aside from his organizational operational positions, Kamath has been secretary of IIT Alumni Centre in Bengaluru and trustee at Shreyas Foundation in Ahmedabad. Taking part in events such as IIMB Eximus 2024, Kamath sir focuses on the topics like creativity and the community in regard to educational issues. His wisdom could not be wiser today because it helps one to understand that education and partnership strategies will go a long way in putting an end to equity in education. To us, we feel privileged to be part of this great experience, a fusion which we believe can create future relations and/or shared expertise. One of the standout moments was meeting Shyam Srinivasan Sir, the CEO of Federal Bank. His perspectives made a lasting impression on me. Since taking the helm in 2010, Shyam Srinivasan has been transforming Federal Bank. His leadership has steered the bank through economic slumps and also driving major growth in revenue and asset quality while providing required support to SMEs . His emphasize on "Resilience and adaptability are crucial for thriving in the dynamic banking sector," a lesson that resonates deeply. Getting to know about his journey was inspiring. Before leading Federal Bank, Shyam Sir held many important roles in various multinational institutions. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm honoured on talking about Kris Gopalakrishnan whom I met in EXIMIUS - IIM Bangalore's Entrepreneurship Summit. Kris Gopalakrishnan, commonly known as Kris, is the co-founder of Infosys, one of India's largest IT services companies. He is renowned for his visionary leadership, intellectual prowess, and unwavering dedication to innovation and technology. Kris sir's personality is characterized by humility, a collaborative spirit, and a strong commitment to ethical business practices. His contributions to Infosys have been pivotal in transforming it into a global powerhouse in the IT sector. In January 2011, the Government of India awarded Gopalakrishnan the Padma Bhushan, the country's third-highest civilian honour. It was great to see Dr Velumani Arokiaswamy from Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. giving an inspirational talk at our Indian Institute of Management Bangalore ! He came from a humble background in Tamil Nadu to establishing the largest diagnostics company and his story clearly shows how determination and use of knowledge can lead to success. This is a true inspiring story of a man who came up from the bottom, it really inspires all who listens. He was so anxious with the creation of resources not with the utilization of the available ones – a principle any business activity endorses or supports. He says, “It does not matter how much you shovel the snow you matter how many shovels you make.” It is an example of an entrepreneurial attitude. Apart from being a successful businessman, Dr. Velumani also passionately supports society’s vulnerable groups. How he is successfully managing to fund education for children from low-income families and medical needs of the poor. Obviously, everybody can succeed, and Dr. Velumani’s visit was inspirational to prove that this is true even if one comes from humble beginnings.
