There; for the taking. Attended a few leading Indian innovators' conferences so far in the last few months including the Global Digital Health Summit and World Innovation Health Forum. Before the spontaneous generation of societal impact that follows, the precursor is the interactions that span sectors and people both horizontally and vertically. The circuits and algorithms of the world run on souls and energy ounces of these interactions. You get the perspective from students, your very competitors, and even people from totally orthogonal sectors. Insights are everywhere at such venues, one surprises oneself more often than one would imagine. Granted, the nation needs to stress more upon double barrel learning to catch up with a leading edge in Public Health and Climate Tech, including Point-of-Care Diagnostics, Genomics, Digital Health Architectures, AI Trust and Security Management, and New Energy solutions. This does require a favorable national innovation ecosystem to create appropriate conditions for the generation of new ideas, translation into products, and commercialization at scale. Conferences are but a small step towards it, allowing for horizontal space to discuss the expansion of public and private investments in R&D and a stronger venture capital culture. My India of Tomorrow, as was envisaged by Dr Kalam will need Markets of Tomorrow to realize itself, and for it to see light, such gatherings/conferences, I would like to stress, be made openly available freely digitally immediately after if not parallelly possible (basically hybrid optimization). The planners of such conferences need to stress more on gamification, embrace unconventional formats moving from 'panel discussions', and make it a habit to analyze qualitative metrics like attendance growth, and lead generation with qualitative insights like attendee sentiment and behavioral shifts.
