About us

At Chittam our mission is to take Indian culture to today’s children in exciting, innovative, and meaningful ways. We design and manufacture board games and card games that draw from the deep well of Indian culture, philosophy and spirituality, to leave children – and their parents – with a more direct appreciation of multiple aspects of our diverse lived culture. Chittam was founded with the belief that to be successful – as individuals and as a country – we need not just the skills and knowledge that come from conventional schooling, but also the stillness and clarity within, the strength to take on everything that world throws at us, and the rootedness to our civilizational heritage. Many of today’s parents agree that cultural education and rootedness are not merely nice-to-have elements for their children, but in fact foundational to their success and happiness in these noisy, tech-heavy, competitive times. There is much in ancient Indian wisdom that is eternally applicable to our lives, and we would be doing our children a major disservice if we do not present them with these ideas in ways they will understand and appreciate. This is exactly what Chittam sets out to do. Chittam is here to enable and empower children with the mental strength to live wholesome, contented and successful lives. South Indian flavors have already captured the hearts of food lovers across the world, from the likes of idly, dosa, filter coffee to banana chips, murukku, mysorepak & much more. The vision of Sweet Karam Coffee is to take the taste and tales of South India to the globe. Growing up with our grandmother, listening to her stories about the rich cuisine and culture of the South propelled the journey of SKC. The term 'Sweet Karam Coffee' is an emotion and a holistic snacking ritual where it all starts with a Sweet, then moving to Karam (meaning spicy or namkeen) and finally ending with a piping hot filter coffee. We never wanted to be that yet another brand selling just products, products and products. We never wanted to be that brand that will resonate to only South Indians. The goal is big, to build a global snacking brand from South India, that will be celebrated by the world. We wanted to make our traditional flavours global and accessible with the most authentic and cleaner proposition along with innovation. These authentic flavors are not just food—they are memories, traditions, and the very essence of South India, packed in every bite. But the experience doesn't stop with just the food. Our cultural community Dakshin Tales aims to unearth a kaleidoscope of traditions, flavours and rich heritage of South India in a very unique way and to add a gem to this fast growing community, we recently worked on something very special along with Chittam and Charanya V Kumar to bring back the stories of our grandmothers through an exciting card game that brings the magic of South India’s rich culture, cuisine, and traditions to life. The pack of 50 game cards and the pocket sized booklet brims with fascinating facts and stories of South and it's just not just a card game. .     When guidance meets action, magic happens! I was halfway across the world in Hong Kong when TN - RISE Women Startup Council called with an opportunity for Chittam. To include a Chittam product in a Diwali gift hamper they curated. They went beyond ideas and took action. They expertly packaged and showcased our products. From positioning in gift hampers to teaser strategies, they taught me the art of perfect presentation. And then they paid us so promptly on the day of delivery. Now, that's a new standard to set! Great incubation goes beyond guidance and networking—it’s about showing entrepreneurs how things are truly done. And this comes naturally to Dr. Uma PMaheswari P. and Sagthi Prakash.
