Witnessed the exchange of two MoUs alongside my counterpart from Qatar H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani at the India-Qatar Joint Business Forum. The MoUs, one between Confederation of Indian Industry and Qatari Businessmen Association and the other between Invest India and Invest Qatar will help further expand business cooperation between both sides. In my keynote address at the event, I emphasised India's impressive investment opportunity with ease of doing business, cost of doing business, thrust on quality, and futuristic reforms. Dr. Ahmad Al-Sayed (PhD), Hon’ble Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, State of Qatar, stated that traditionally, the partnership and business relationship relied on exporting petrochemicals and importing food from India. “We are witnessing a change, as there is more electric technology and other manufacturing now. We would like to enhance the non-oil and gas activities. Of course, we would like to export more petrochemical oil and gas services to the Indian market, which is our tradition. “We are set for a transition in our trade relations, with greater investments flowing on both sides. We are working towards balanced trade as we move forward. I believe this transition will rest on the pillars of sustainability, entrepreneurship, energy, and technology. We have a huge startup ecosystem in India, which will be very inviting for investments coming from Qatar,” said Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, while addressing the India-Qatar Business Forum today in New Delhi. In his keynote address, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted that, over the years, there has been a great bias towards energy trading, and we welcome the energy products coming from Qatar. However, I believe we are now looking at a new future, where we will transition from energy being the hallmark of our trade to new-age technologies, whether it is artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, quantum computing, or semiconductors. Confederation of Indian Industry led a delegation to meet the new Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Space Commission, Dr Narayanan V, on 14 February 2025 at ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization HQ, Bengaluru. The delegation was headed by Mr. Apparao Mallavarapu, Chairman, National Committee on Space, and Mr. Rohan M Ganapathy, Co-Chairman, National Committee on Space, accompanied by five other industry members. During the meeting, CII shared space-related initiatives under the CII National Committee on Space, with members sharing their perspectives on advancing the Indian space sector. Dr. Narayanan during the meeting emphasised that private sector, including space startups, has played a crucial role in advancing India’s space sector.
