Introducing the 'Wild Lens', a visual series that invites you to step into the wild through the eyes of those who experience it firsthand.
In our first post, as winter transitions to spring and harvest festivals across the country celebrate new beginnings, we immerse ourselves in the misty mornings of the Western Ghats through the Wild Lens of Aneesh Sankarankutty.
“Over the past five months, relentless rains have gradually given way to winter. Dawn in the Western Ghats is now shrouded in mist, and the chill has begun to settle in. The calls of migratory birds can be heard faintly in the distance.
As I ventured through a misty morning blanketed in fog, I noticed two indistinct figures slowly emerging from the haze. Their presence was barely discernible, and the weariness of walking in the cold was evident in their gait.
The mist lifted for a brief moment, revealing a young tusker standing nearby, feeding on the teak. However, after just a few minutes, the forest was once again shrouded in mist.
I watched as the mother elephant and her calf silently vanished into the dense greenery of the forest, their figures quietly disappearing into the mist.”
Stay tuned as we bring the wild closer to you through breathtaking images from the field.
